Exiting Lot 401 and heading West

Has anyone figured this out without being forced down Burbank half way to fricking Geismar?
We live in Lafayette and in the unfortunate circumstance we end up parking in this lot, there is no way to go North on Nicholson, or get to River Road. You’re forced onto Burbank, and have no option of turning towards the interstate until Staring.
Pisses me off!

This is why people leave early

If you got stuck in traffic tonight, something is seriously wrong with you.

Things were better before they did a study on traffic flow because they are EFFING CLUELESS.

First week I was in the lot south of 401. I stayed till end of game and sat in my car for about 5 minutes. Was able to get to 401 and go right on Nicholson extension and then turned into campus, took side roads through campus past union, up to music school, got on to chimes street and then onto highland past Louise. Was definitely weird but I live downtown and tailgate on the Old nine, it was the only way I could get north. Also was after game in which 70% of the crowd left early so I wouldn’t count on that strategy for an SEC game. Best advise, try parking in the gravel lot by softball field, it’s free and takes you north after, just more of a walk.

Stop with the common sense, Boat.

Arrive earlier. Park somewhere else. Sounds like this isn’t your lot anyway

Exactly - the entire situation is a dysfunctional mess freaking up by complete morons at LSU and the EBR PD
Beavis and Butthead could do better getting traffic off of the campus

This is the correct answer until they change these post game traffic flows. To get to Lafayette easier you are going to either have to park north of campus (scary thought I know) or on the east side of campus. Easier ways to I 10 west from these areas

Easy fix is for LSU to assign parking passes based on season ticket holder address. For instance you should be in lot 106.

Plan ahead. On the games where you have that pass book a night at Staring Motel. Free WiFi and HBO and you wake up refreshed and ready for an easy drive home.

Park next to softball field. The contraflow diverts to River Rd.

The problem is campus is on the banks of one of the country’s largest rivers—effectively eliminating an entire direction of exit.

Can you imagine the cluster frick if they allow people to decide which way they want to go out? You know ahead of time which way you will be routed, make adjustments. I would rather be routed south for a couple miles and get to interstate on Essen or bluebonnet than to sit in traffic on river road or Nicholson to get further north. The parking map clearly shows you which way you will have to go

quote:This, times 1,000. That's a big part of the problem with the cluster. Too many people going against the flow because they need to be going the other way.
