What about the women and children in the stands?

Are they doomed to hear rap like vulgarity at a football game?

There's a time and place for that shite, but blaring out in a statium packed with folks who don't really care to hear that is another matter.

I'd like to think we're still a somewhat civilized society where if you want to hear that shite, so be it.

But amping it up in front of families, etc..is in bad taste.

Two questions: First, do you go to games with your family and tailgate? Two, do you have a few beers or drinks at said tailgate?

Actually, I don't even remember my first experiences at Tiger Stadium because I was a toddler. My parents brought me along. My first real memories of going to games was all the adults dressed up and it being a social event more than just a football game. Later, I could hear Tiger Stadium at home on Saturday nights. Mostly had to listen on radio but a few games were on TV. I got chills when the game was about to start.

Point being, it was all about LSU and the game, and families enjoying it all.. It was pure. The Tiger Band was just as famous back then as it is now, but obviously there was no neck.

Just because society today seems to enjoy the vulgar lyrics of 'today's' music is certainly no reason to force it on an entire generation of people who find it simply inapproriate for a huge sector of the public.

Do better, be more clever.

It is immature and vulgar. It is a weird and craven obsession which you will lose once you go from being a child, to raising a child. Yes, I am an old dude and used to reprobate with the best of them. And still do in my mind.

Why can't the students just STFU and let the Band play Neck without STTDB? Some of you act like that's how Neck got famous. The whole stadium use to rock to it till some idiots started that shite.

It’s because it’s banned. Anything that is banned or is forbidden in any sense immediately becomes that much more popular.

I wonder how many people here want to get rid of Neck but complain about cancel culture?

Neck was a fun tradition as a student. The drunken vulgarity of it all was a blast as a young man.

As an adult and family man, it’s rather embarrassing. I’ll still chant along in my head, but cringe when it’s yelled around young kids.

Talley and Queen. Double P's O S. RUN....OUT....OF....TOWN. (With Alleva and FKA)

Tiger Band deserves a "Marching Band Nick Saban" type and right now it's now even close to being that, not even remotely close...….

Personally I hate it. It perpetuates the image of our state being full of uneducated dumb coon asses and rednecks. I find nothing "cool" about vulgarity, and hate my state and university being portrayed as unable to even cheer without such language. It shows no class, and little creativity to have your fans act like immature 11 year Olds at a sleepover, cussing to look cool.

As a parent, who had kids recruited for sports, I also will say this. You want your kid in a clean safe environment, which Baton Rouge does not grade out as a city where you can be comfortable as a safe haven. Then throw in "neck" and kids enjoying to be vulgar and disrespectful, and I honestly believe it does not create the positive atmosphere you want your kid to spend 4 yrs. at.

At this point, the demand to play Neck is so unifying that it’s a meme that will be an inside joke for tiger fans for generations to come.

@LouisianaLonghorn - Do you have a source for that statement

It was in the thread about Woodwards speech/questions.

Apperantly he was asked and said Joe Burrow asked for it to be played at the A&M game, and the he himself asked the band director to play it and was told no.

Nah, it's because it's a song that gets the players and fans hyped up. Alot more hype than Louie Louie or Flight of the Bumble Bee
