That’s a different question than if he abused his power. Lamar Alexander believes he abused his power but that the public should vote to remove, not him.

But this isn’t a criminal trial. Removal from office isn’t nearly as serious. It’s comparable to a civil trial with a lower level of doubt.

He’s saying that he wanted to hear witnesses so that they could add doubt about what trump did.... since they didn’t he was convinced that Trump abused power. Good for him.
