Guessing the implication is Miles doesn’t get fired in 2016 and O never takes over and the offense never evolves

O got fired 2 years after winning a title Miles would've been fired too if the program trended downward

Didn’t NIL and transfers happen because of court cases? How does that connect to a rematch?

Without that embarrassing loss to Bama, we go into the next season with a national championship against Ok St, and we have a reasonable chance of beating Bama. That arse kicking embarrassment for the whole country to see drained the gas out of the program. Miles had no shot of beating Bama again. And those consequences by whatever happened in that locker room that night never happen. I can see Miles holding on a few years longer. We were still recruiting on a high level and another natty would have improved on that. The question would have been "How many years would they give him, with 2 natties, to hire a modern day OC and let him work.

Anyone know the actual story why Miles refused to even try the backup QB in that national championship game? Jefferson was horrible.

I always tell people that the BCS broke itself when it forced a rematch…when the entire point was to have two teams play each other that otherwise would not due to bowl alliances and schedules. I knew it was over as soon as that happened..less so from the injustice of it to LsU and more so from the other conferences getting locked out

Man when you get the answer to those questions please let us know.

I wish someone would write a tell all book about the end of the 2011 season. Lee had demons but he should have gotten a chance in the title game.

Because Bama never gets an undeserved rematch, miles never gets embarrassed in the national title game but actually wins his second one. He’s got a LOT more goodwill with the fans, and O never gets his chance to coach here.

Jefferson allegedly had naked pictures of miles with a dead woman or a live boy

Well I think that accelerated timeline for Os firing was indirectly due to that 2011 loss highlighting the growing gap between LSU program and Bama in areas other than talent

O had a very warm seat prior to 2019, completely fell apart personally after 2019 and honestly his success really solidified the mindset that pretty much any decent coach could win at LSU

Lot different ground there in comparison to a hypothetical path where LSU wins in 2011 and Les is a 2 time national champion with a decade of sustained success and 10 plus win seasons. Hell even with the 2011 loss, he was able to survive what seemed like certain death in 2015 due to his standing with the program, despite most of the admin wanting him out at that point. He’d have gotten more time without the 2011 loss

Positive recruiting as a result of the NC cannot be ignored.

Now that would be a helluva 30 for 30, including what came out about miles later on.

The irony is that you won’t see a celebration like that again for a regular season win.
