You guys have to remember that they are going all the way back to 1936 for these rankings. As such, there is no chance that any Florida school will be ranked above LSU. FSU was a women's nursing college at the beginning of these rankings and Miami didn't take football seriously until the early 80s. And Florida never won the SEC until Steve Spurrier appeared there. The second time.

Also, we'll be ahead of Penn State because they were rather small time until the 60s.

It's gonna be:

Notre Dame
Oklahoma
USC
Alabama

then

Ohio State
Nebraska
Texas

then

Tennessee
Michigan

LSU at #10
Georgia at #11

Penn State at #12

My prediction

I really don't think so. Penn State will be close, but remember that Miami was horrible - absolutely atrocious - until Schnellenberger took over.

based on who is already picked, you got to say:

Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Texas, Penn State,

then:

Miami, Florida, Tenn., LSU, Georgia, Fla. State,

then:

G. Tech, UCLA, Washington, Arkansas (maybe), and one more, cant think of it

ND, USC, OU, Ohio State, Michigan top 5.
Texas, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska and either UF/LSU probably for the 9th/10th place. Vandy at dead last is an absolute mind f***. How in the hell can you put a program like UTEP or Rice above them? Ridiculous

If you take all-time wins or winning percentage you get a good measure. We're 12-14.

Well, by elimination....I say the following teams are ahead of us...

Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Florida State, Notre Dame, Alabama, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. That's my top 10, in no particular order. I think LSU could be somewhere between 11-19. The 90's kill us. The late 50's and 60's were great. 70's and 80's were solid. 90's were God awful. I think we should be hanging around prgorams like Florida and Georgia.

There were lot of variables for when a school was handed penalties by the NCAA for infractions. Those penalties were graded as such:
Each year of television ban: minus-1
Each year of postseason ban: minus-2
Each year of overall probation: minus-1
Each year of financial-aid penalty: minus-1
Each year of recruiting penalties: minus-1
Each penalty of "show cause action:" minus-2

That will hurt bama a little, maybe cancle out one of their "titles"
