That kind of passing performance won't beat Alabama. I'm not criticizing his game vs UGA, I'm just saying he'll have to be much better than he's been on average.

He'll need to put up something close to the Ole Miss game for us to have a shot. It's going to take 30 points or more to win.

Also why do so many ignore the fact it was raining and windy for the first half of the game? Am I naive thinking that has an effect on consistently passing the ball?

Sure, no one is ignoring it, but until the final drive of the half, I think Joe only had 7 more yards passing than Fitzgerald, who is obviously much worse throwing the ball. ESPN showed the graphic that we also had 17 yards of total offense.

That's bad, no matter what the weather is like. Joe said himself after the game that it was his worst performance.

Also, his stats against UGA were ridiculously good. How is that so easily overlooked??

He played great in the UGA game, but he still only completed 50% of his passes for 200 yds. I'm not sure that qualifies as "ridiculously good", strictly from a passing standpoint.

Burrow has started exactly 8 college games (and played in a few games at Ohio State in garbage time). Against 3 top 10 ranked teams and another 2 top 25 ranked teams. And a #1 and #16 coming up. But let them prattle on. At the end of the day, after another 17-20 games at QB for LSU,against the best opponents in CFB, he is likely to have a pro career at least as good as Matt Flynn's.

Pretty sure there was some dropped passes in there by the WRs.

Yeah Burrow is the only QB who has to deal with dropped passes and plays blown dead.

And Bama's another good defense.

They're ranked 15th. MSU is 6th, UF is 17th and UGA is 23rd.

Not in passing yards allowed, Bama is 33rd. MSU is 10th, UF is 6th and UGA is 15th. Miami is 2nd. LSU is 37th, La Tech is 38th.

Passing Td's allowed this season
Bama-12
MSU-3
UF-5
UGA-5
Miami-6
La Tech - 7
LSU - 7

Also noteworthy, the rankings of the scoring defenses tha LSU played

Moo State #4
Georgia #13
Auburn #14
Florida #15
Miami #17
La Tech #46
Ole Miss #109
SELA #FCS

The rankings of the defenses that Bama played

Texas A&M #29
Tennessee #89
Arkansas State #91
Mizzou #91
Arkansas #101
Louisville #104
Ole Miss #109
ULL #113

But, yes, the offense does give me reason for concern if we cannot slow Bama down.

These are also 3 of the best defenses in the country. He isn't going to go out and light up a defense, but he is going to control the game and give us a chance to win. If our receivers could catch balls consistently, we probably beat Florida and his Comp % definitely goes up.

Yeah but at the same time the man can't score. He's very inconsistent on deep passes. Go rewatch the UGA game. We threw a lot on 1st down and they were passes that went beyond 15 yards. I think he hit maybe 2 of 9. Five of his six pass TDs came vs a FCS school and the 12th worst pass defense in the country in Old Miss (119 of 130). Two of his rush TDs were goalline QB sneaks and the other two were against the FCS school and Ole Miss. Seven of his 10 TDs came from two games, and he also has 6 turnovers. I know the QB typically has the most turnovers, but the only other person that has a turnover is Brossette.

Burrow can't score. I don't care how you explain it away, he's not scoring. In addition to that, he turns the ball over more than a little bit.

As of right now he's completing under 54% of his passes, averaging less than 7 yards per attempt and has 6 TD passes and 6 turnovers in 8 games. For reference true sophomore Jennings in 2014 completed 50% of his passes, averaging 8.2 ypa with 7 TDs to 3 ints (4 turnovers total) in his first 8 games. Jennings had 3 true freshman WRs and a redshirt freshman WR along with a junior with 8 career catches. His OL and defense was also very bad the first half of the season. Jennings got no sympathy from the fanbase because we needed better. Burrow should get no sympathy from LSU fans either.

We need better from Burrow plain and simple.

50% cmp at home, 2 goaline TDs (any back could have scored those), and 59 of his 66 rush yards came on one fake at the end of the game.

No, that was not a good showing. The run at the end was clutch, and he made a couple great throws while also missing several, but as a whole, it was not a good showing. I hope that the light comes on for him like it did Mett in 2012 after the bye week.

Bama has killling people in the first Q and Half of games so teams are throwing a lot more later in the games, they’ve also been letting off the gas in the 2nd H

The numbers obviously aren’t flashy at all, but the dude is a gamer and tough as hell. Anyone who can’t see his importance to this team knows nothing about football.

MSU Game
Burrow was off. Lots of bad passes, but it was wet

UF Game
Great DL manhandled our OL and he was under constant pressure. Lots of dropped passes.

Sure Joe will need to improve, but for his numbers to improve, the OL must do their job and open up holes for the run game and pocket protection and the also the WR's need to stop all the drops. This isn't all on Joe, which I think most of us know.

The guy knows what to do at the line, he is smart, and he is very accurate on the intermediate routes.

Bama Game
They will get their points with Tua in the game. However, their defense isn't the greatest like in years past and can be scored on.

I think the run game has to be clicking.....burn the clock, stop the 3rd and longs, and WR's catch the ball.

For sure, but you have to admit that his stats against UF, UGA, and MSST are really bad

They are, but we don’t run an offense that is conducive to producing great QB stats. We run a very opportunistic offense. We do t even have a real offensive identity. It’s almost like Ensminger puts all the plays he has on a wheel and spins it and whatever it lands on, we run.

I guess ESPN expected him to be a mid season all American, if so then yeah he has been underwhelming.

In my opinion he has been a good QB. Not lighting the world on fire, not any eye popping stats. He is a great game manager, he is tough, and he seem to have a complete understanding of the offense. That coupled with the fact that he doesn’t make many big time errors (Interceptions) and we have something we haven’t had since Met.

I am thrilled at his performance, could he be better, yeah. He has shown flashes of some real talent and ability. He also has had some missed throws and bad decisions. However he is a college QB in his first year with a new team. To me he is performing above average. Who knows, if our line doesn’t get the injury bug, maybe he would be even better.

He is the best we have had since Met. As someone said earlier, without him we are closer to having 4 in the L column.
