Go live in Jackson Ms for a few years and you’ll be thinking of BR as paradise on earth.

That’s like comparing microwaved pizza to gas station sushi- one’s less likely to kill you, but neither is exactly gourmet.

I remember BR in the 80s and most of it was pretty great. I'm sure some others remember it before that.

I'd agree that it's declined in my lifetime, but you can still live in a decent area and have a nice lifestyle here, mostly free from the trash if you are reasonably successful.

Nonsense

Have you even seen Sioux Falls, South Dakota? It’s a beautiful city that has very low unemployment, good white-collar job growth, low crime rates, and low taxes. Check it out. The only negative is the cold winter weather.

I remember Baton Rouge from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Before the serial killers issues.

What would be the take if they only showed the worst parts of town?

Answer: most people would be persuaded that’s all there is.

Haven’t read the thread. But what separates Baton Rouge from other cities is culture and people. Unless you want to live in a big arse city everything else is the same. There is nothing to do in bum frick Cali, just like Louisiana

Sioux Falls is 97% white, but I will neither confirm nor deny that that has an impact on anything.

BR ,NOLA and believe it or not , Jackson were decent in the 50s. IMO, the decline began around 1967 and is still in progress. NOLA was still pretty good when the Saints began playing.

BR peaked in the 80s. The city was rolling in that decade. The population grew like 33%.

Baton Rouge is a great place to live. I have lived in suburban Atlanta and DFW and BR beats them in every case.

Baton Rouge is a great place to raise a family. I’ve live in many cities and will take Baton Rouge over any.

I’ve never met someone who moved away from BR and regretted it. Not one single person wanted to go back. I lived there for 11 years.

LSU fans love to hate on BR. But, Baton Rouge really only sucks to people who are from BR or lived there at some point, and probably don’t travel much. In reality, It’s a lot like most cities across this country. There are pros and cons. But it’s not as bad as sone of those critics say.

I lived in BR for 11 years. In some ways I do regret leaving. But, now I do not want to go back. But it has noth8ng to do with BR. I just happened to learn to love and appreciate my home town again.

So it's the absolute worst place in the world, the South, or the US? People from BR dream to move to Alexandria, Birmingham, Memphis, Montgomery, Mobile etc?
