What did he say, I refuse to watch WAFB and haven't kept up with everything?
He sensationalized everything on Friday by emphasizing the marine thing. He basically wrote his news report off the rant thread and went on the air with it.

Which is why we have 34907 marines and their family members trashing JJ's fan page?

I mean the whole truth. ....lets say it is ugly...such as ...I started the fight..etc...but I didn't deserve to get kicked in the head.
He's done then. I don't see how anyone can say he was unconscious from that kick and his actions afterwords.
Concussion maybe, unconscious no.
And you have a big uphill battle trying to prove that and most likely you can't.
Moreover, he started this mess by throwing a punch on someone that was protecting a girl from his stalking arse.
He is done. I don't a rats arse WTF he said at the station.

Just because the "victims" are now being reported as "throwing the first punch," doesn't mean players won't be charged. If someone is getting kicked while on the ground...that's a battery. The force is excessive, regardless of whether the guy on the ground hit first.
Bottom line, though: Too many conflicting stories. Unsympathetic victims. Multiple, mutual batteries (Fifth Amendment issues). And the burden of proof at trial is beyond a reasonable doubt...that means every element of the offense. I don't practice law in Louisiana, but I'm sure there exists a disorderly conduct statute that probably uses language like "brawling or fighting." The DA can charge anyone he is certain was involved in the fight...players and victims, alike. Offer all Defendants to plead as charged (with the opportunity to amend the charges to battery--felony or otherwise--in the DA's back pocket if anyone wants to fight it). Let everybody fight out the restitution, medical, dental, and other bills in a civil setting. Call it a day.
It's too public to not file something. Disorderly (or whatever Louisiana calls their disorderly statute) sounds like a weak charge to the public considering the allegations against the players, but if he plays up the fact that disordely conduct covers this kind of activity (blame the legislature for passing such weak laws regarding bar fighting), and that there wasn't sufficient evidence to go forward with more severe charges, maybe it will be acceptable to reasonable minds. Fact of it is...there are a lot of places in Louisiana and across this country where nothing would have been filed because the DA can't expect to go to a jury and receive a guilty verdict for battery with the current facts.

If the progress report doesn't include interviews with bar employees, it's fricking worthless. Not unlike you.

You mean the one where they haven't even interviewed the BAR EMPLOYEES that were direct witnesses to the altercation?

Not the sole reason, it was picked up by the national news that way. But he definitely helped start that clusterfrick.

No, it's not. It's only excessive if the guy is defenseless -- it's clear as day he was in the process of standing back up when he got kicked. I've seen to many people come back off the ground with a knife/weapon to consider someone knocked down defenseless.
