It was a valid criticism - police brutality/militarization is a problem. Unfortunately, CK is a terrible front man for the cause due to his other asinine actions (Castro, socks, etc), and it took a racial direction rather than a general brutality/militarization message.

I don't know enough about that specific claim (police brutality/militarization) to agree or disagree, I've just looked into it enough and based on what I've seen I couldn't see justification for the racial tone that's overtaken the conversation. It'd be a conversation worth having most likely, but like you've said its been derailed and now all we can talk about is anything but that.

I'm disappointed that is true. On Veteran's day it is even more!

I hope he has defined his career by doing this.

When I was in fourth grade there was this kid that refused to stand for the pledge of allegiance.

Out of curiosity we questioned him on it and he told us he didn’t stand for the pledge because of his parents and religious reasons.

He was a good kid and we didn’t treat him any differently from anyone else in the class. We just went about our day of learning and playing.

Seems like some people in this thread could take a lesson from my fourth grade class.

I agree. NFL players are acting like 4th grade drama queens with no real idea for why they are not standing.

Well, "parents and religious reasons" is a much different answer than "America is systemically racist". Players were putting up black power fists during their kneeling as well. They also wanted the NFL to create some sort of social justice activism month, where they could further protest other social issues.

Was your 4th grade friend rocking the boat that much?

So you talked or listened to Colin Kap and that’s what he told you?

Or perhaps is that just what you want to believe?

Yes, he said that here in America there isn't justice for all, mentioned how the police was behaving, and wore those pigs with cop hats socks.

Look at what Guice was tweeting a few games ago. He wanted to kneel because of what happened to Sterling in Baton Rouge last year.

You need to poke your head out from under that rock you're living under more often.

They aren't worked up over it. They are making a show of being worked up over it. There's a big difference.

Lets break it down, then.

Blacks make up 13% of the population and 40% of police shootings. Blacks are therefore over represented and this is evidence that the police force, and by extension the judicial branch of our government (because they're letting these cops off for executing young black men), is racist. That's why BLM exists, because they think that society is so racist that it needs to be told that black lives have value. That's how bad they think it is. You don't think that's not inflammatory and somehow comparable to your 4th grade story? Piss off.

Men make up 50% of the population and 95% of police shootings. No one cares because they understand that men commit the most violent crime and are most likely to put themselves in a situation where a police officer needs to use lethal force to save life or limb. There are no "MALE LIVES MATTER!" groups.

Do you see the contradiciton? Or do I need to lay it out further for you?

There's no "sickness", at least not within our police force or our judicial system. BLM and Colin Kaepernick are just average citizens using WebMD to diagnose a sickness, ignorant and wrong. The actual cause is excessive crime in black communities.

A black man is more likely to be struck by lightning than shot by a police officer while being unarmed and not committing a crime.

But let's not let facts get in the way of raw emotion.

Who cares? WHO CARES!!!??? I care, and everyone who calls themselves an US Citizen SHOULD CARE!!! Apathy toward our nation and what that flag represents is exactly what’s got us to this point of disrespect to begin with. The very people who have given their lives for this country over the many years had sworn their lives to that flag and the country it represents. If you don’t CARE about that then GET THE FRICK OUT. Go live in Zimbabwe or Venezuela and try to live the posh, spoiled life that 99.9% of all Americans take for granted daily. The life that others provided BECAUSE of their loyalty to that flag. Because when you spit on our flag, you aren’t just spitting on a piece of fabric.... you are spitting on the very fabric of this great nation, woven the thread of every American soldier and citizen who has sacrificed their own blood, sweat, and tears, family, wealth, and freedom so you could have those things, and I could have those things in their stead. If there is one aspect of this society you don’t like, then by all means protest... but do it without PISSING ON THE GRAVES of those who died, and CRAPPING ON THE REPRESENTATION of the whole country’s laws, beliefs, morals, ethics, faith, charity, and ambitions. Those are the things that give you the right to protest at all without getting shot or worse.

That’s my two cents.

issue that was presented.

What fricking issue? Police officers being human beings and making mistakes just like people do in every other career field? We demand a lot and pay shite for them to run toward danger while the rest of us run away or try to find a place to hide. Many of those officers are black as well.

Colin is a attention hound or an idiot if he doesn't realize that 99% of all police confrontations with a black male result with no one dying and simply because someone turns out not to have a gun doesn't mean the officer knows that when they are reacting. Also, unarmed white guys die sometimes too.
