Is kneeling at a high school game disrespectful to the troops?
Yes. If you are able to stand, kneeling during the National Anthem is disrespectful to the troops.

I'm a doable vet and I don't respect him anymore for doing his protest on Veteran's Day. Shsme on him!

Did you "REID" that article you are referring to? It is from LAW & CRIME: Donald Trump and many like-minded Americans would much prefer that professional athletes “should not be allowed” to refuse to make patriotic gestures. The sincerity of those gestures, however, does not seem to be part of this debate – not even when they are paid for by the government itself.
NFL players chose to make a wordless statement, using the public stage available to them yesterday. The statement those players actually made conflicted directly with a fake statement of patriotism that the NFL received millions to have those same players make.
Before 2009, football players standing for the national anthem wasn’t even a thing. The teams stayed in the locker room until after “and the hoooome of the braaaave,” and then ran onto the field. No one was offended, and no one was on cable news eliciting tears from disrespected military families.
In 2015, Senator John McCain and the Senate Oversight Committee issued a statement and corresponding report condemning practice of “paid patriotism,” as charades, “conducted not out of a sense of patriotism, but rather done “for profit in the form of millions in taxpayer dollars going from the Department of Defense to wealthy pro sports franchises.”
These paid tributes included on-field color guard, enlistment and reenlistment ceremonies, performances of the national anthem, full-field flag details, ceremonial first pitches and puck drops. The National Guard paid teams for the “opportunity” to sponsor military appreciation nights and to recognize its birthday. It paid the Buffalo Bills to sponsor its Salute to the Service game.vi DOD even paid teams for the “opportunity” to perform surprise welcome home promotions for troops returning from deployments and to recognize wounded warriors.

The national anthem story you should actually be outraged over.
The American government pays the NFL to tell its players to stand during the national anthem. That’s right. For those of you whose heads are beginning to spin, let me lay this all out legally. The First Amendment prohibits any government entity from forcing an individual to say anything. That’s the basic concept of freedom of speech. In a related story, forcing people to salute a flag or swear an oath of loyalty to the government is pronounced, “tyranny.”

If the waste of taxpayer money isn’t gross enough, grab your barf bag as you learn about the motivation behind the expenditure. The DOD and the National Guard were marketing to sports fans. The concept was that if sports fans saw their favorite athletes standing for the Star Spangled Banner, or saluting the flag, they’d emulate that behavior and become more patriotic themselves.

You people are insufferable. I'm sick of this even being an issue - these guys can demonstrate however they want; I honestly don't care. But the fact that some of yall get so worked up over this is pathetic.
Imagine going to home depot and having all the staff pushing politics in your face while you're just trying to buy some herbicide. Then some tard online calls you insufferable because you no longer care to shop there...

Proud of Eric Reid. He’s a Tiger.

Terrorists are following their conscience too. So that’s an acceptable excuse now?
Try and familiarize yourself with the concept of false equivalency.
Terrorism and peaceful protest are not the same thing. The only harm that comes from someone kneeling is the offense taken by the many of the same people who decry people being offended all the time.
Finally, what you fail to understand is that in doing no harm, Reid doesn’t need an “excuse” any more than you need an excuse or permission to say the stupid shite that comes out of your mouth.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
I commented on Powerman's post that he didn't see how the National Anthem was in anyway connected to the troops. I provided 3 examples.
My personal opinion is that it is up to the NFL as business whether or not to enforce a code of conduct during the presentation of colors.
But the customers of the NFL also have a right to voice their approval or disapproval of a policy or lack of policy.
We all have freedom of speech. But none of us have freedom of speech at the workplace. If you think you do, throw out some racial slurs in your HR department tomorrow and tell them, "It's cool. 1st amendment". See how that works out for you.
I personally don't care what Eric Reid does or doesn't do. I haven't watched a NFL game in years. But don't be disingenuous and act surprised that there has been such a great backlash over the way some of the players have chosen to protest.
Posted on 11/13/17 at 10:15 pm to SEC Grapevine
My issue is two fold.
1.) Why are they protesting during the national anthem? How is this any different from me choosing to air my grievances during a church prayer, or during a wedding ceremony, or hell during a Martin Luther King parade? There's a time and place for everything, unless its something specifically tied to the national anthem I don't see why that particular moment is being chosen for the protest.
2.) Colin Kaepernick, the person who started all of this, said that his sitting/kneeling was to protest police brutality towards minorities. It's claimed that since blacks are only 13% of the population that they're over represented in police shootings (40%) therefore racism. Put race on the shelf for a second, lets look at gender. Men and women are 50%/50%, can anyone here guess what percent of the time men are shot by police? About 95%. Where are all the "MALE LIVES MATTER!" signs? No cries about how America and the police forces just hate men... Why? Same standard... Because people understand that men commit the vast majority of violent crime and therefore are much more likely to put themselves into a situation where a police officer needs to use lethal force in order to save life or limb. That makes sense, right? Anyone wanna take a guess at how the violent crimes break down by race? Nope, all they care about is race baiting.
Ignorant race baiting at a time when you should be respecting your country and the people who've served. No, I can't understand why some people aren't too pleased /sarcasm.

Lol, yeah, I'm sure you always used to tune in early to games to make sure you could pay close attention to the national anthem.
Kneeling during the anthem might be the least confrontational form of protest I've ever heard of.
I'm proud of Reid for being an excellent representative of our University. If anything, the only issue with this kneeling protest is that it's TOO easy to ignore.

Yea, you gotta really look hard to see the players kneeling. Not like the cameras aren't putting them front and center or anything...

Calling America systemically racist is very inflammatory.

I’m still trying to figure out how/why/when this became about the military anyway.

Imagine being such a snowflake that kneeling instead of standing during a song = pushing politics in your face.

It’s actually the definition of pushing politics in someone’s face. It’s virtually the only way that someone in his position could push politics in someone’s face who doesn’t give a shite about him or his political views. No one is tuning in to hear about how oppressed the $20,000,000 a year athletes who go to college for free are

Who presents the colors?
Who does the flyover as part of the flag ceremony?

The Boy Scouts could probably present the colors but I don’t know about flying the jets.
I thought they stopped doing flyovers anyway.

His point turns to shite. You literally have to watch him kneel rather than stand for it to be "pushed in your face."
This entire thing is comical. The selective patriotism is my favorite part.

They very well could, but it's typically someone from one of the services, national guard, or ROTC.

They may have. I wouldn't waste that much fuel flying over 1/2 empty stadiums.
