It become obvious a lot of people hate when a black person/athlete speak against anything. Telling him to leave politics out of the game or deal with the consequences of your actions... Speaking up for women rights is politics, fighting against child hunger is politics, speaking against domestic violence is politics, speak up against school shootings is politics I've seen commercial ads pushed by the Nfl for most of the points ive pointed... So stop with the b.s own up to who really a racist and stop asking your favorite black for autographs
You can speak up for all of that, and 99.99999% of people will support you

However, dont be so dumb that you do it by offending people, and then dont be dumb enough to be defiant and continue doing it once it was known it offended people

Could be also the last couple of years he’s missed games due to injury and therefore presents questions about his durability as a player. I’m not ignorant, it’s plausible his association with Kaep and the protest thing could be a factor if he isn’t signed this free agency period but there’s so many damn layers to everything that attributing an outcome to only one thing is illogical and ignorant.

You people.
Its truly remarkable

Let me make a comparison, a hyperbolic comparison so the dumb ones can understand

here it goes

I decide I want to spread the message childs cancer is bad. 99.999999999% of people agree with this message. However, I decide to do it by going to childrens oncology centers, and whipping my dick out in order to "gain attention." People immediately stop me and are pissed.

Now, are they pissed because they are for childs cancer?

You get it now morons?

Well, I have to disagree with this idea that there's a good way to protest without pissing people off.

There is no protest that is not ill-advised for the people protesting. Protesting necessarily upsets people. Every single protest that's ever happened has upset a group of people, unless you can think of one where everyone on the other side said, hell you're right, we'll stop doing whatever you're saying is wrong. Time will tell if what they did was worthwhile as far as big picture, but in the moment, people are going to be upset with him.

Peronally, I never had a problem with his protesting. Things would never change if there were never any protests. My only issue(now) with Reid is complaining after the fact that he can't find a team, as if he didn't fully think ahead that this may be a consequence of his action.

Yup. And let's not kid ourselves here; a lot of these NFL guys are basically grown children. They've been coddled and had their lives run for them since it was discovered they were good with a football, and some of them don't know how to handle themselves in the real world. That's why 80% of these guys go bankrupt after leaving the league.

I don’t think any protest was aimed at the NFL itsel

Then what is the "systemic problem"?

no. "Freedom of speech (i.e., the First Amendment) only applies to the government. Private employers can prohibit your speech all day long.

But I do get your point - that if you speak your mind, you have to be prepared to deal with the blowback. And Reid clearly wasn't prepared.

I don't agree. Nothing happens until people stand up and actually do something. Nothing at all happens due to the protest itself. It is the same thing people joke about and make fun of around white people and "awareness". If you make fun of that crap, any protest is the same thing. Do something. Don't just whine that something should be done.

eh, I hate it for him. One of my favorite all time LSU players.

But free speech doesn't mean 'free from consequences'.

But nothing gets done until someone "whines" first. Would you not agree with that?

I agree protesting in itself doesn't create change but doesn't it have to be a part of change? Otherwise what would be the catalyst for change?

You can’t tell me Eric Reid kneeling is a distraction but Greg Hardy throwing his girlfriend on a bed of AR-15’s and choking her out isn’t. Or Donte Stallworth and Leonard Little literally killing people. Or Pac-Man Jones bashing strippers teeth in. Just be honest about it all.
What they did is wrong, but they didn't do it on game day, wearing their employer's uniform, in front of 80k fans in the stadium and millions more on TV, and doing it during our national anthem, in the freest, most prosperous country on earth that has provided them the opportunity to become multimillionaires.

There's the difference. And it's a huge one.

And I hate being reminded of this stuff when I'm trying to watch a football game on my day off. Remember those super uncomfortable women's abuse commercials with the NFL players looking awkward? It was fricking miserable having to watch that shite during a game. We are surrounded and bombarded by people's political opinions. Constantly. I'm sick of hearing about it. I watch football to get away from that shite.

You arent understanding what I am saying

There will always be people upset. However, there are ways to actually protest without the "action being offesnsive."

People were offended here before even hearing the message.

This is true.. But the amount of people rooting for consequences because of the most peaceful protest possible is insane. Felonies.. Assaults.. Domestic violence etc and they get second chances because football. Kneel during the anthem.. NATIONAL OUTRAGE
