How much better would this team have been if he wouldn’t have stayed this year. We had a big 4. We would have had a guy that embraces the dirty work. He crashed boards. Had. A high motor. The over all depth gets significantly better.

Can’t blame the guy for leaving because he did it for family. After he had a kid it was almost a guarantee he was leaving. Wish he would have worn a condom, we may have had. A better chance of keeping him. But overall he was exactly what we needed this year other than a decent big man. Williams wasn’t a small guy either though. Long wingspan.

Would have liked to see Josh Gray hget more minutes early in the season to see how he could progress. I trust Will's judgement of him being ready or not obviously but in hindsight his size would have been nice to have at times late in the season. If for nothing else to eat up some fouls and maybe snag a few boards. He seemed to me to have a good read of the ball off the rim and knew where it was going before it hit the rim most of the time. Huge part of rebounding

I think there are better things to worry about. That said, I love that you had the chest to say it.

Emmitt is in the G League averaging 4.3 points and 12.3 minutes per game for the Agua Caliente Clippers down in Mexico. He will get paid $7,000 per month for a 5 month season for a total of $35,000.

I hope it was worth it.

They definitely do not play in Mexico.

You are right. Right outside of LA, Ontario, CA. My bad.

Darrius Days and many other college players have the same future, but they will leave school early anyway.

Agua Caliente Clippers play in Ontario California not Mexico. They are the Clippers G League team. He should have stayed. $7000 a month ain’t squat for a pro athlete. There was no demand for his skill set in the NBA. He needs to go over seas.

I hope Darius Days stays another year or else he finds himself in Emmits position with basketball. I’m sure his roommates have been talking about going pro but I think he could improve his skill set if he stayed another year. Watford would improve as well but I’m sure he believes he is ready. I just see watford as between positions with good ball handling skills for a big man but not quite ready to shoot from that position. And as the Michigan game showed he can’t take it inside. They will both make a little money but not much. Maybe Emmit will reach out to them.

Days is not even a better-than -average college player. He has size so he’ll get a look at the next level. Problem is he can’t beat anyone off the dribble and he can’t shoot well from behind the arc. I like his rebounding and the fact that he does the dirty work. One more year a d lots of extra shooting. Oils g.

I thought this was was dumb....

His size is the biggest thing working against him

You’re correct about his ball handling, though.

There aren’t many 20/21 year olds making 35K a year and it is still more than the 0 dollars he would be making playing at LSU. Had he come back to LSU for another year he would probably not have made himself anymore money. His issue was he is an undersized 4 that can’t shoot. That wasn’t going to change playing another year of college basketball.

You think it’s hard for a 21 year old to find a job making $16/hr?

I think playing basketball for LSU is worth more than $35k/yr, but I understand why he left.

Yep.

That post read as a list of the complete opposites of his shortcomings.

Obviously it is his decision if he wants to leave early, but I've always felt he could have a career like Admiral Schofield at Tennessee. A guy who was always an "oversized" 3/"undersized" 4. But one who worked himself to becoming an All SEC player in his senior year and an eventual NBA draft pick.

While he was the forth option on this team LSU is going to need a go to scorer on next year's team. Days could be that guy and the potential make up of next year's team could help him flourish. LSU was a high-screen ISO team this year. Their top 3 scorers were very good in that role. But one thing they didn't do well is assist. LSU was one of the worst teams in the country in assists per made baskets. Days thrived (on offense) as a spot up shooter/pick and pop guy...when his teammates found him.

Next season we'll likely see Gaines running the point. Yes, he had his moments of uncontrolled play this year. But you also saw glimpses of great court vision from him. He's more in the mold of a Waters type of PG than Smart (who was really a scorer). Currently there is no one on the roster who looks like you can just give the ball to and get out of the way. In terms of individual skill-set I think next years team will be closer to Wade's first season than the last 3. Which was also LSU's highest ranking of assist to FGM by a long shot. LSU will have to generate offense more as a team with ball and player movement rather than individually. That could really benefit Days. Plus, he'll likely have more help inside defensively. Watford just wasn't that interested in defending the post...which left a lot of that work to an undersized Days.

Again, it is his decision for his own reasons. But I really think he could have a big year if he comes back.

Agreed. Too many games where Days just doesn't show up. He cannot be counted on. He's just not talented enough to go much further than LSU in his basketball career.

Darius has one skill that's en vogue in pro basketball...he's a "big" that can stretch the floor. I see his ceiling as a bench piece on an NBA team. I'm a Magic fan and he reminds me a little of Gary Clark/James Ennis...guys who can shoot spot-up 3's and will work hard on the defensive glass. His size/athletic ability will probably see him spend most of his career in G-league/overseas. He's a hard-working, zero drama kid that I hope the best for.
