Hate on Carville all you want, but he isn't wrong here:

What was Emmert’s involvement with the asinine transgender rules that are coming down from the NCAA mountaintop?

LINK
quote:

“The NCAA is concerned with the numerous bills that have been filed across our country related to sport participation,” Emmert said in a letter sent to Human Rights Campaign President Alphonso David Thursday. “As we have previously stated in situations such as Idaho’s House Bill 500 and its resulting law, this legislation is harmful to transgender student-athletes and conflicts with the NCAA’s core values of inclusivity, respect and the equitable treatment of all individuals.
The NCAA Board of Governors policy requires championship host sites to demonstrate how they will provide an environment that is safe, healthy, and free of discrimination. The board policy also requires that safeguards are in place to ensure the dignity of everyone involved in the event.”

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is pulling seven
championship events from North Carolina over the state’s so-called “bathroom law.”

quote:

“The reason the university presidents reached this conclusion… is because this is about sports that are conducted in the context of universities that are trying to reflect the values of higher education in America -- inclusion, fairness, treating all of your student athletes, the coaches, their fans in a way that reflects those values in our championships,” Emmert said. “That’s what matters most.”

If Emmert wants the job, you absolutely find a way to make that happen.

I think he makes about $3m as NCAA head, though.

Seems like Emmert would be a slam dunk and as a bonus, would help us with all the ncaa issues going on now.

I don’t care about the transgender BS. It’s a drop in the bucket.

If it turns out to affect women’s sports, let the white suburban women that voted for Biden fight that battle.

For those too young to remember, he was excellent for LSU. As it pertains to sports, he hired saban, paid him nearly double over the second highest paid HC at the time. He didn’t let the current AD who was a “good ole boy” make the decision. He was a visionary and ahead of his time in seeing what the impact of an elite sports program can have on a university.

When I was on campus, Emmett was readily available to speak to the students, showed up to events outside of just sports, and represented the university well. I would welcome him back in a heartbeat.

I remember during finals week we had some late night study thing in the union where they provided pancakes and such for the students staying up studying. He walked in and had some and walked around talking to students and wishing them luck.

Emmert would not be here forever. He's 68 now.

But he could come here for 5 years and right the ship, and set a strong foundation for the next leader, who could be someone younger who could stay for a while.

I don't see him leaving the NCAA to come back... but... him and Scotty are VERY close and have been for a long, long time. Scotty has worked for him before, in multiple spots.

You realize he did everything in his power to get Hillary Clinton elected dont you? And I don’t think Hillary had the welfare of the country foremost in her agenda.
