He has to sit out 15 games. LSU didn’t play 15 last year.

So the NCAA existed to protect amateur college athletics… with NIL that’s gone so why should they continue to exist?

How this guy was apart of the greatest season in CFB history is an even bigger mystery than the Rougaroo![/quote]

He just got arrested any coach in his right mind would sit a player that did what he did to teach him one of life's lessons. But I guess when you're a coach with your arse on the hot seat, you'll try and do whatever you can to produce a W.

It wasn't GPA that was the problem, it was the # of hours. he didn't have enough hours to be eligible at the beginning of last season. The NCAA suspended him for "one season" which is defined as 15 games (dumb), so he has 2 left. His GPA is irrelevant in this case.

Seriously. Two guys who, at various times, had academic struggles must surely have the exact same consequences.

Such bullshite, so tired of the NCAA and setting players up for failure.
Just be aware it might be the conference.

About a decade ago the NCAA pushed a good bit of academic enforcement for P5 teams onto the conferences.

Now, that always seemed to be recruit level items to me- qualifiers. Not ongoing eligibility. That's why we've seen freshmen cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse but still ineligible due to the SEC at times.

But this is an "hours towards degree in non-summer semesters" issue, not GPA, so it is very likely NCAA academic enforcement.

I know you probably sit on this board waiting for threads to pop up so you can post about O, but it wasn’t O’s job to make sure players are taking enough hours or are staying academically eligible. Just like it’s not Brian Kelly’s job right now. Several people in the athletic department fricked up on this one, and it wasn’t any of the coaches.

The ones who never wanted O can’t stand the fact that he brought a NC. They’ll shite on him every chance they get for their own ego. They can’t admit they were wrong about how his time as HC would go.

how were they wrong? With aranda and ensminger running things the program was in good hands. They were already at LSU so O didn’t have to go get them. It’s not a coincidence once they left O brought LSU to its worst seasons since the 90s. I wouldn’t say they were wrong at all

If this is the case, what exactly got screwed up and why can't it get fixed?

I can tell that many on here dont understand college or eligibility. Emery's issue was never reported as low GPA. He was cited for not having enough hours for his class standing. Something happened in Spring 2021 that allegedly had something to do with family covid issues. It was never described if he dropped classes, withdrew failing or passing, failed classes, or left school that semester. One would assume he did not have incompletes because he could have finished that later and got the credits. Whatever the reason he was short hours for fall 2021, not low GPA. These are completely different issues as he could have a 3.8 gpa and still be short hours. Actually it sounds like he is caught back up but is still serving the mandatory 15 game penalty.

Insane. Only 2 teams play 15 games each year.

Frame of reference (I know it is a different league) Watson beat up massage hoes and is suspended 6 games.

After UT and OU join, add 2 more, and withdraw from NCAA.

I wonder if he dropped some classes or something and didn't have enough hours.

That's quite a bs assumption. Do you have any reason to believe that. If not don't put cheating on him for no reason.

I listened to his lawyer and it was based around the Covid Semester and a death in his family. Sounds like he was going thru a lot during that time and did not take enough hours. I assume he dropped a class or something that put him under the required amount.

Since when did this become a thing? In the past you either have to sit out because you are ineligible or you don't because you are or have become eligible.
