Here’s his perfect game write up. Would be nice to have a 6’6” 250 power hitter in the lineup.

quote:

Nicholas Storz is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-6 245 lb. frame from Brooklyn, NY who attends Poly Prep Country Day HS. Extra large well proportioned athletic build, outstanding present strength. On line delivery with a high 3/4's arm slot and big downhill angle to the plate, arm works well coming through, medium energy on release and can be hard on his front side. Throws a heavy high spin rate fastball, gets the ball down at the bottom of the zone well, topped out at 94 mph. Slider not consistent yet but will show big sweeping break at times. Only took BP due to travel obligations but may have as high a ceiling as a position prospect. Huge top of the charts raw power, doesn't sell out for the power, gets huge lower half torque and leverage, can hit the ball as hard and as far as any player in the class. Might end up being a Mark Trumbo type of talent. Verbal commitment to Louisiana State. Selected for the Perfect Game All-American Classic.

I'm assuming his injury affected him too much to hit this year? He was blasting home runs at the home run derby last year. Dude needs to hit

Sounds like what we need in the lineup next year, i do not mind players doing what Bain did this year

Too big and powerful for Mainieri.

Paul likes 5’6” 165lbs secondbaseman that hit .260 with 1-2 HR’s per year.

Storz can also play 1B. At 6'6" that's the kind of first baseman you need to stretch and get some outs.

I hope he gets to play 1B consistently if he's not pitching. I'm not sure what the plan is with him though. Might have to check with Adam4848 or ProjectP2294 for that info

LSU has to rely on pitchers for power because the position players don’t have any?Maybe PM needs to change his recruiting tactics

Yeah. CPM said at the beginning of the season he didn’t want him to twist an ankle and he wanted him to focus on pitching.

At the beginning of the year it looked like we where paper thin on the pitching staff and had more than enough bats.

Paul probably has no idea this kid can hit. Let's wait to his Senior year.

I think he actually got hurt taking BP before the season started, it was a small ankle issue or something.

I think your right. I seem to remember something like that.

Either Way Id love to get him in the lineup. His exit velocity off the bat is in the 98 percentile. With that power and size he could be a 20 HR player if developed correctly.

Good god. I didn’t know he was that good. He’s off balance, not over exerting himself and he’s hitting homeruns in the power alley of a MLB Park.

Get that kid a bat.

Let Nick play 1st base next year when he's not pitching and hit for himself when he is pitching. I don't know is that too simple?

This topic was brought about last summer when he arrived on campus but he didn't hit for a number of reasons.

He was brought in as a potential weekend starter after LSU lost three from a season ago. Over the course of fall ball (actually early in fall ball it was made known that he needed surgery on a bone spur). He got maybe 1-2 at bats in live scrimmages...

After coming back in the spring the need was still on the mound and while he was taking batting practice and running the bases he had a close call with a leg injury. It was enough of a close call that Mainieri shut him down to focus on pitching.

Now we all know he wasn't able to come back to health but there were reason's he wasn't thrown in as a freshman to hit in game situations. He's a very big bodied guy with tons of power "potential" but if he has any chance at hitting for LSU next year then they need to send him to a summer league this June-July and get him at bats.

Just my opinion.

After watching Oregon States shortstop, we have to stop talking about little guys. He's smaller than almost all of our players and he is going to be a top 5 draft pick.

It's not the size, it's how good they are. The American league MVP last year is 5'6"

what reasons?

honestly PM needs to be more adaptable with 2 way players if he can legitimately help us on both ends.
