The underthrown ball was when Nabers was at least 5 yards past the safety and wide open. In that situation you definitely err on the side of underthrowing.

Is that also the pass where he got crushed right after releasing the pass? He did a great job of standing in under pressure.

I would not call it eating crow. The criticism before State was warranted. I think most reasonable fans wanted to see exactly this and are excited to see it.

I don't know about eating crow. I have been a JD fan but have also criticized him when he wouldn't hit the open receiver or held on to the ball too long but also realized he was the best option for this team and knew he had the ability to do it since he he did for a 3-4 game streak last year against top SEC competition. Been pulling for him to take the next step and hopefully he has but OLine and good play calling all have an effect on the QB. It was a total game Saturday but early on when JD ran left to right twice while keeping his eyes downfield and ended up hitting Diggs for a big gain showed me he is working to get better. He could have run the ball twice and easily picked up 10-15 yds but he continued looking for an open receiver. That was impressive and showed some maturity. And his passes to Nabors were dimes. He put the ball where only his guy could catch it or it would be incomplete. So he slightly underthrew a wide open receiver. LOL, How many times did Burrow do that? but please learn to run out of bounds or slide. Unless it's for a huge first down or a TD no need to risk his body.

Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself with a straight face that he’s been having good games… Can’t? See.

Watching the game vs looking at a stat sheet at the end of the game is totally different.

He pLayed a great game. I saw bunch of great improvements from JD
1. Staying in the pocket
2. Running to Throw, not just running.
3. Quicker releases on shorter routes.
4. Great deep ball throw, easy to catch.

Only negative thing is that he is looking for Nabors a little too much. Have to get all the receivers involved. If you think other teams are going to let Nabors have one on one coverage now, then you don't know football. Lets see what happens with other teams take Nabors away from JD.

That comment personafies LSU fans perfectly.

Our starting qb sucks arse and needs to be benched in favor of backup qb… one week later… they are heisman candidate and maybe we let him play.

Anything less than being a heisman candidate, and its just not good enough.

As a fan base, we need therapy. Most of you still dont realize what having BDJ did to your expectations.

I'll eat my crow. After declaring a QB with 2 years experience in college football that could not hit a timing route would not ever be able to, he proved me incorrect. I'm happy to have been incorrect.

He actually played better against good teams and worse vs bad teams.

My only thing he did it against no pressure, what's going to happen when we play against a way better d line / db, is he going to freeze up again?

solid post. the JD for Heisman ranters won't concede what coach Kelly talked about after the game - JD's reluctance to throw the ball downfield. you acknowledged that he did so this game, but have the right attitude going forward - he has to continue and we need to see it against good teams on a consistent basis. If that means i hate him then i guess i hate him.

70% of this post is still kinda ragging on him.

Ok, fair point, but it's not 70%.
I said he improved on the shorter routes and attacked down field routes.

The only thing I said negatively was t under throwing Nabers a touch one time and that there were spurts of this last year where he looked lights out and then would struggle with it in the next game. I just wanted to see if he has found that consistency for the remaining schedule.

I haven't been one calling for Nuss but I'm not going to claim JD5 is the best QB in the country after one spectacular game. This game was unreal and an amazing performance and I just said I wanted to see if he can have better consistency from game to game and that I hoped he wouldn't keep taking these hits.

The criticisms come across as extreme nitpicking as if there is some better option at qb who lsu is intentionally not playing. Every QB in the country has things to work on. LSU fans seem to think you have to be perfect.

Great game. We shall see because we will see much better secondaries.

He needs to not follow it up like he did last year with a great Florida game and Alabama game but threw for 80yds against Arkansas and Auburn and a terrible A&M game.

That's not really eating crow. Multiple backhanded compliments nullify the pretense of eating crow.

quote:

Nabers had to slow down for a couple of them and almost had them get broken up, but overall it was awesome.

There's one

quote:

We saw him improve in games with this last year and then slip back into the old pattern of hanging on too long the next game against better competition. Hopefully this is giving him confidence and he doesn't slip back into his old ways like last year.

Here is another where you say something that indicates you are not really convinced yet.
quote:

Hopefully this continues against the better DL's and secondary. This was not a good MSU team and the D was wore out in the 2nd half, so I'm anxious to see if he can continue this against Ark, Ole Miss and Bama.

And again.

I'm not saying that anything you said is wrong nor am I saying you are not happy that JD did better. It just looks to me like you are not really convinced this is anything more than an anomaly until you see consistency. I understand why you would feel that way but that is why I say it's not really eating crow,
