listening to all the pundits, they believe LSU will have a good team and all, but almost no one believes we will beat Clemson.

On3 composite of 2025 preseason polls which was released a little over a week ago has LSU ranked #8. This is the consensus ranking of all polls combined. If we are preseason ranked top 10 when the AP poll is released, we will be considered a contender.

Consensus Preseason Top 25

Opening line for game had Clemson favored by 2.5 points. You make it seem as if LSU is a huge underdog with little or no chance of winning.

Why should they believe a team that’s gone 0-3 in big openers under Kelly would go to Clemson in a true road game and get a win?

Same thing with beating Bama after all those years. It’s a believe it when we see it thing.

If you go by projections, Clemson is the toughest game LSU will play all season. I don't think that's the case, but I'm not a media member. That being said, it's still a tough game, and I don't see LSU winning. That means LSU will essentially be irrelevant until about mid-season. No reason for anybody to really be talking about LSU. That all changes if LSU wins.

It's very different from Some of the great Clemson teams of the past. Last season Clemson gave up 30+ points 5 times. They were the #1 defense when we played them in 2019. They lost 2 of their 3 regular season games at home (SCar and Louisville). Their best win all season was a 34-31 win over SMU which was their only win over a ranked team.

Clemson is still a very good team and could win it all, but they are not a juggernault. LSU has a lot of question marks and we all know the biggest is OL. There is a lot of talent on LSU's roster, but there are a ton of new starters. If LSU can weather the early storm while the new players acclimate we can be a contender, but if they start slow the season could end before November.

Dude...he is not at Center anymore. Just because he wasn't a good center, doesn't mean he won't be a good guard. In fact, I expect him to do very well there....

Who was Texas? A media darling for sure. Who were their big wins...? They had the easiest sec schedule by far. Georgia was down for Georgia standards and still went to Austin and beat them, then beat them again later.

Ugly recent history. 2023 FSU was one that you could say LSU may not have been the better team.

2024 Southern Cal L 20-27 Las Vegas
2023 Florida State L 24-45 Orlando
2022 Florida State L 23-24 New Orleans
2021 UCLA L 27-38 Pasadena
2020 Mississippi St. L 34-44 Baton Rouge

Clemson lost its last two openers in blow outs.

UGA 34-3 in Atlanta
Duke 28-7 at Clemson

I’m confused why Clemson is being perceived as better than LSU. We have a much more talented roster.

They are playing at home.

LSU traditionally (recent) starts slow.

They are making a prediction.

The thing that confuses me is they have been pretty damn average the last couple years

Average?

How would you classify LSU over the last couple years?

agreed, and it is mostly because BK has proven for several years that he cannot prepare a team to play well in the first game. His teams need a 'warmup' game either at a neutral site or in TS.
BK's teams get better as the season goes along but horribly underachieve in the first couple of games, especially on Special Teams which has cost LSU wins in at least two of our most recent opening games.
Therefore, until BK proves differently, I don't know how LSU should be expected to beat a very good Clemson team on its own turf.

You can’t claim that when you lose by multiple touchdowns and the game was never in doubt for Texas at any point. Texas was winning 28-10 at halftime.

That’s like saying 2017 LSU played Alabama well because we only lost 24-10 even though the game was never in doubt for Alabama at any point, and so it’s disingenuous to claim that LSU play them really tough.

The reason that I am hearing from all this noise is not the team. It's all about Kelly. He's never done it. Until he does, the "meedjah" and the rest of the CF puns will see us as just ready and capable.

Geaux Tigers!!

and F$%k Bama!!

hank Verge for his miserable scheduling. We could be playing someone like NC State, Texas Tech or Minnesota at Tiger Stadium.

So, taking the least path of resistance? I can tell you avoid being put in a tough situation.
