Their conference was absolutely a joke, and didn't even play one of the top joke pretenders in Miami.

This I know, eyes are surely on LSU and especially BK. LSU has to win this game or our season starts out on a bad note. I know a team can still make the playoffs with one loss, but we have not won a season opener since BK has been the HC. That being said, let's......

I have been burned by LSU last three years thinking they were the better and win the opener.

This year I don't know what the hell to think about this game but I will just wait and see.

They have Clempson's D as the best in the country as their blue chip ratio hovers abound 50. I think our D is going to be top 20 or better and our BC ratio is around 75. These sportwriters are lazy. They don't look at the facts. A 50 rarely beats a 75. I think all they look at is our dismal record last year and just assume we will be about the same this year. The don't realize that a third of our D was injured the back half of the season and we had little depth. We are healthy and now have a solid 3 man rotation at every position. Do they even look at who Nuss will be throwing to?

Stop. Just stop. LSU lost to Florida last year. They do NOT look like a playoff caliber team to outside eyes until they prove it on the field this season.

you need quality depth along the OL and DLs, he finally has that.

Then why is DJ Chester starting? Serious question. Is he really quality depth at OL?

The thing that confuses me is they have been pretty damn average the last couple years. Very comparable to LSU. All of a sudden they are suppose to make this massive jump?

They have an experienced QB who has all the tools. And a strong DL. They could easily make a jump. LSU did it after 2018 with an experienced QB and team.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we win at Clem's Son. We need this game much more than they do because of the schedules of both teams.

It's easy. When you live in a bubble like most LSU and SEC fans in general, you have absolutely no idea how good any team actually is.

For the OP, the truth is pure ignorance. Matt Mascona said he went around during SEC media days asking media people what do they think on some of theie top defensive picks out the portal like Mansoor Delane and Patrick Payton and AJ Haulcy. The vast majority didn't know who the hell he was talking about, or if they did, they didn't know they went to LSU. Yall want to know why Sellers was picked over Nuss? Matt said, of the 1100 media that attended the Media Days, only 200 people bothered to fill out the ballots, or if they did them, they forgot to submit them. That's how you get an Aaron Anderson snub or Caden Durham snub.

I'll tell you right now, the national media has their favorites. They can tell you everything about Bama and Texas and UGA and Ohio St, but mention LSU, and they may know Whit Weeks. They know somewhat of Aaron Anderson, same with Durham. Gun to head, they know Nuss, they know Perkins, they know Nic Anderson (because he came from Oklahoma). They're not factoring in what DJ Pickett could bring as a freshman. They're not factoring in what Mansoor Delane does as a lockdown corner for our secondary. Or what a ball hawk like Haulcy does for us. They aren't recognizing an Edge unit that is 4 deep and nasty. They aren't paying attention to an LB unit that is veteran laden with talent and experience everywhere.

Yeah all those guys were amazing last year, right?…………………. Oh wait, they lost 4 games and got their asses completely whipped by Georgia and Texas. (Who were overrated last year honestly)

I’m not buying the Clemson orange cool-aid that the media is brewing up this year.
Clemson had one major problem last year.

rush defense.

Their QB threw for 330 yards and 3 TDs vs Texas, but they gave up 292 yards and 4 TDs rushing at an insane 6 yards a carry.

The QB threw for 280 yards at 66% while rushing for 62 yards and 2 TDs vs South Carolina. However their defense gave up an insane 267 yards and 2 TDs rushing at an insane 6 yards per carry.

They have 16 returning starters. 5 projected 1st round draft picks (most out of anyone)

Is there a major talent difference? No. But they have 16 guys that are all very good that have been in the system for a while, where we have a bunch of portal guys.

If it we were playing them in week 6, it may be different.

I do think Dabo has more pressure on him to win this game. He is pretty adamant about sticking with old school we will only recruit high school players approach. If they lose to a team at home that has fully embraced the portal era, there will be rumblings in Clemson

I hope LSU goes undefeated but, in reality, I think they are over-rated. Kelly said he was “bullish” on the OL. He’s blowing smoke up their arse. He has to tell them he believes in them to inspire confidence. LSU lost 4 starters off the OL last year and one of those was drafted high. I don’t equal talent coming in.

Nuss & WR’s will be good if everyone stays healthy. Key will be defense. Kelly will figure out a way to score some points. To have a chance, defense has to be better. I look for them to go 7-4 or 8-3 with losses to Clemson, Ole Miss, Bama and maybe Vandy.

With a 12 team playoff, I don't see Clemson as critical. LSU could lose that one and one more and easily make the playoff. They could still make the playoff at 9-3 depending on to whom and how they lose and who they beat.

People are putting way too much on the Clemson game. On the road against a top 5 -7 team in game one is not make-or-break in the current format.

If LSU has NC potential this season, this will be a great tune up for the SEC. If they don't, they weren't making through the SEC anyway.

Finishing 9-4 and getting blown out three games in a row probably doesn't help.
Losing 4 OL starters and only signing 2 from the transfer portal, with all the projected starters not having much playing experience.

If you want some positive vibes, JD Pickell from On3 picks LSU to win it all. He's a recruiting guy, but does some really nice analysis. Been my favorite listens at On3 for a while.
Pickell on Moscona
He's definitely an outlier though.

listening to all the pundits, they believe LSU will have a good team and all, but almost no one believes we will beat Clemson.

And why all the shine for Clemson. I mean yeah they have some first round picks on the roster.....what 4 projected? I mean....Nuss, Weeks and Perk are good bets to be first rounders?

Who did they beat last year? SMU is their best win...SMU. They lost 4 games last year. The only reason they made the playoff is because the ACC had an auto-bid...the conference sucked.

So they are getting a lot of shine from what they did last year, but once you dig into what they did last year....not all that impressive.

Once again, this Clemson team is not comparable to those Watson and Lawrence led Clemson teams people like you are making them out to be. Some of y’all are acting like this Clemson team is a juggernaut LMAO

Agreed, not saying they suck but go back and look at their schedule and results last year and come back and tell me that screams juggernaut on the precipice of greatness for the next season. Because you can't!!

If you go by projections, Clemson is the toughest game LSU will play all season. I don't think that's the case, but I'm not a media member. That being said, it's still a tough game, and I don't see LSU winning. That means LSU will essentially be irrelevant until about mid-season. No reason for anybody to really be talking about LSU. That all changes if LSU wins.
