Don't understand why Ole Miss is favored

Every book I've seen has Ole Miss -1.5 and almost every national pundit is picking Ole Miss. I know we're all biased on here, but I just can't objectively figure out why Ole Miss is the hot pick.

On defense, Baker is going to throw things at Chambliss that he's never seen on the football field. He's going from high school geometry at D2 directly into multi-variable calculus against this Blake Baker defense. Perkins is impossible to gameplan for because of how many different ways he lines up and how many roles they have him in. Not to mention the ELITE secondary, both Weeks brothers, and a veteran D-line.

On offense, yes we need to play better. Running game needs to show improvement and we can't regress into needing Nuss to throw it 50 times a game to have a shot. But last week showed that it was possible. I know, SELU, but still. I think now that Nuss is healthy, they'll open up the playbook and really unleash this offense.

Finally, home field advantage is real, especially in the SEC, but let's not pretend Vaught is among the elite places to play. This team marched into Clemson while they still believed and cared and passed that test in a tough environment.

Being as objective as I can, I see this being a low scoring game where the defense smothers them and the offense gets the job done. Something like a 24-10 or 28-14. But then again maybe I'm just an optimistic homer.

They’re the home team and LSU offense has been inconsistent…. Not that hard to understand.

We have shown little ability to sustain drives and score points. LSU wins with 24-27 points in regulation IMO. Defense needs to force a turnover to win and we have to be able to muster 150 yards rushing to keep them unbalanced. If we are forced to go one-dimensional on offense, we will lose.

Offense gonna shock everyone this week. There's been signs of it coming together and I think they put it all together this week knowing that they have to help the defense out a little bit.

I agree. Ole Miss' defense is a sieve. We will score on them. I don't understand them being favored either.

By the way, you have 2 posts. 1 in 2023 and 1 in 2025. Both were solid OPs. I don't say this often, but you should post more.

This was Nuss after Southeasterns game. He knows what’s coming

It's as simple as this: it's in Oxford, and LSU has not been consistent on offense yet. The spread is a little lower than the typical home-field advantage in a toss-up game, so it's really more of an acknowledgment that the game is a pick 'em type of game on paper.

Effectively, the suggestion is that they are evenly matched with a slight edge to LSU. As such, LSU would be favored at a neutral site or Tiger Stadium but not at Vaught Hemingway.

You have a LOT more faith than I do.
OL needs to click. Hope the light bulb goes on and they gel.

It’s recency bias. Ole Miss barely beats Kentucky and Arkansas. Beats a bad Tulane handily (they almost lost to Duke and south Alabama)

But because of that, we’re the paper tigers?

We should dominate
