Don't listen to these snapperheads on ESPN who are paid to drum up controversy.

LSU would have beaten the team that just stomped Tennessee...LSU would have played one more game than Tennessee and would have a harder schedule.

That being said, just beat Arkansas...

Need to worry about an undefeated BIG 12 champion in TCU and a 1 loss PAC 12 champion in Oregon. LSU wouldn't jump either.

We’re at 7 - need to jump 3 teams

We’ll jump Tennessee by winning out
We will jump the loser of Mich/OSU
Need TCU to lose and/or PAC 12 champ to have 2 losses.

I don't think we would at all jump Tennessee. We would have lost to them and have 1 more loss. I'm as big an LSU fan as there is, but preparing yourself for reality is always the best route. We need TCU to lose. We don't need Oregon to lose, but it'd be nice. If we beat UGA, they will have lost to them 49-3, and I think playoff committee will look at that mutual opponent. Michigan will lose, but our SOS is better than them with 2 losses. No way in hell they would have beat UGA and Bama.

Key thing here is TCU losing and LSU winning out.

I don’t know why so many people think this is a given. They would have one loss and a head to head win 27 point win against us. I’m not saying we can’t make the playoff, but it’s very possible that there will be 6-7 teams that would have a very strong argument. Us being one of them.

Losses aren’t the only thing that matters. Quality wins and championships do too. Also the “eye test” as far as who is hot at the end of the year. No team in the nation will be hotter than LSU if we ran the table. No chance in hell we’d get left out.

let me flip it around for you...in your scenario, would Tennessee go over UGA if LSU beats UGA in SECCG? UGA would have stomped them and have one more win than them?

I think conference champion will be our trump card...and yes, I agree, we need TCU to lose...will probably happen this weekend...

Quality wins carry more weight than bad losses. The Committee has proven this the last 8 years.

I don’t think Tenn is the issue for LSU. Tenn is sitting at 5 with an easy schedule and no conference championship. All they have to do is keep winning and let the one’s ahead of them beat each other since most of them still have to play one another.

LSU just needs to win out and worry about jumping the other teams, not Tenn IMO.

Plenty of great chances for teams ranked higher than LSU to lose.

Could there be 3 SEC teams? TCU loses to Texas, OSU blows out Michigan, Oregon loses to USC, USC loses to UCLA

The rankings don’t necessarily always work that way. They aren’t a given to be in the final four just because someone ahead of them loses and falls behind them between now and the end of the season. If Oregon runs the table, for example, they likely end up ahead of Tennessee.
