I have NO problem with the "dogpile" after winning the CWS. I have a small issue with doing it after winning the Super Regional mainly b/c of the possible injury risk of one our important guys getting hurt at the bottom of the pile.

Thanks. Just a little wiser in my older age I guess.

if the trainers and managers are going to dogpile, they should be on the bottom

Sorry, I was just poking fun. To be honest, I've always been a little squeamish about dogpiles in baseball. I don't like the idea of having a bunch of guys wearing spikes jump on top of me in a pile.

Understood as I am 40 myself, but these are 18-22 yr old kids. Its what kids do, I have no problem with it. I would be more concerned if they showed no emotion. Yeah its risky, but its their risk not ours.

I remember being 20 and thinking I was indestructible. Unfortunately now I'm 30 and I KNOW that I'm NOT. I know how delicate the arms of pitchers are so I really didn't like the idea of one our most important pitchers (OTT) at the bottom of a ton of humanity knowing how important he will be next week.

That's where the dogpiles should take place -- in Omaha.

Ideally I'd like to see the team have the attitude that the ultimate celebration should be saved for Omaha. In the one where Mestepey got hurt, I never felt like that team had the attitude that they expected to win it all. This year and this team do feel different to me.

So should basketball teams not cut down the net when they make it to the final four? Let the kids celebrate, it's a great accomplishment. Never take making it to Omaha for granted.

I do not think players should pursue foul balls because there is a risk of injury! They should also never smile unless they win the National Championship because there is nothing to be happy about unless that happens.

Fail at sarcasm. You're talking about apples and oranges. I do think you can record an out while performing a dogpile.

Have a dogpile whatever. Just pile on top of the scrubs instead of your ace reliever thats all I'm saying. Nolan Cain seems like he would be a good foundation for a dogpile.

Cutting down the nets doesn't feel the same to me as a dogpile. But I don't feel that strongly about it. It's really a question of the attitude that the team has. After winning the super-regional, do they feel like there is still more to be accomplished?

Coach Maneiri specifically said no dogpiles after the regional, so clearly there is a line to be drawn somewhere.

I don't think you can record a smile or a good time while having a stick in your arse.

So the coaches told them no dogpiles? Can you please link me to that article?

Quite a leap you're making their pal. Who said anything about them not smiling or having fun. I just think dogpiling should be saved for winning the national championship especially for a school thats been to the CWS a whole bunch of times. I'm glad these guys are having a great time.

I am with you, SteveDoo. Being in the medical profession, and knowing what can happen makes me cringe when I see those guys diving on top of other guys. Yeah, they are young and resilient, but not indestructible, especially when we'll need all hands on deck so to speak, in one week.
