My concern is for the SEC championship. If we're tied with another team for going to Atlanta, that extra win may end up being the tie breaker. That would have a huge impact on our playoff chances.

For fricks sake. We could go 0-4 in non conference play and it has zero bearing on going to Atlanta. Only conference record matters. And if LSU has the was to head win in a tie they are in Atlanta.

God damn some of you are too dumb for words.

It's not in conference so it doesn't come into play determining tie breakers.

ETA: what LAcountytiger said.

If we go 11-0 and then win the SECCG, we def will get left out of the playoff and will be forced to play in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl cause we didn't play McNeese. Thanks a lot, Alleva.

This and not getting a tuneup game before SEC play are the only real negatives for the team.

No material impact. It was McNeese. The committee will assign that game zero importance.

The only game this really hurts us for is MSU. As long as we still win on Saturday, it shouldn't really hurt us for the remaining games. It could actually help in the long run in terms of avoiding injuries, wear and tear, etc.

If we win the SEC while being undefeated or only having 1 loss, we should be fine. A missed opportunity to beat McNeese won't be the difference between getting in and not.

At the end of the day, if we beat who we need to beat to be in the playoff conversation I dont think anyone will say "but they didnt finish that game vs McNeese. I understand they beat Bama, Auburn, Texas A&M, but that doesnt make up for not playing McNeese"

It has no effect. No one will care that we didn't play some crappy team in the end.

May know more about this when new polls are out.

Polls are irrelevant. The selection committee decides on the four teams in the playoff.

All polls should be ignored. They're a relic from an old era.

Well then forget warm ups and 'one game at a time' ... Bring on BAMA!

The McNeese game is irrelevant weather we played it or not.

It has no negative outcome as long as we win all our games!

the only way it effects us is how we play our next game

would have loved the warm up game just like anyone else, but honestly i would rather we just move on that play it.

I am not going to say we were over looking Mcneese, but we probably had game planned for Miss St all summer

treat it like an opener vs a good team. We've won against better than Miss St even with the practice game they got

No impact. If we're a 0 or 1 loss SEC champ, we're making the playoff

I'm say its close to a wash. It helps us if we smash state. We manage to have one less game of wear and tear on our players.

If we are 12-0 we are not competing for the 4th spot. 12-0 SEC champs are in.

To even consider otherwise shows you are stupid, paranoid or both.

That question will be impossible to answer. If LSU does well, wins the SEC or at least the West, then it would be difficult to say it hurt. Fact is, no one was hurt last night. On the other hand, if LSU goes 7-4 like last year, then how could one say that one missed game caused that. It is speculative. I prefer to imagine LSU vastly improved on offense, read QB, such that it will win the SEC West. To me, anything less than that will be a huge disappointment give all of this year's hype.
