No it's not folly at all.

My point was that both committees take a lot of time, undertake a lot of analysis based on many different factors to arrive at their decision. Pollsters don't do that at all.

Just because it's 4 teams for football vs. 64+ for basketball doesn't mean that both committees don't do a similar serious analysis to reach their conclusions.

Far less bias, subjectivity, and controversy with a 60 plus team field. Not buying your propaganda, although it's still about the money.

It won't matter if we can just step up and win.
I do feel that it puts us at a slight disadvantage in achieving that goal (at least against State and Auburn).

From a pure numbers perspective, it's meaningless.

I think the four-or-five games we lose this year will hurt worse.

I understand you disagree with me, but I'm not spewing "propaganda." I've got no dog in this hunt, other than wanting to see the 4 most deserving teams get selected, as an LSU fan and fan of college football in general.

By the way, money is always a factor, which is why the playoff will eventually go to 8 teams, which is also perfect from a football standpoint. 4 teams is too few. 10/12/16 is too many. 8 is perfect. Power 5 champions plus 3 at-large. Perfection.

It only hurts us by not having a game of reps for Harris and some of the other younger players. I hope we settle in this weekend and come home 1-0.

Pretty much this.

We have a record 10 teams in the AP poll today. The conference is as strong as ever. An undefeated SEC Champ is in the playoffs.

If LSU is in the running for a playoff slot, NOT playing this game will actually benefit its chances. This will help our strength of schedule, and critics of our hypothetical resume will not be able to use the "played an FCS team" card.

Bottom line

Cancellation does not hurt NC chances in 2016

If we go 11-0 and another team goes 12-0, we lose to them if we were competing for the fourth spot in the playoffs.

That is not correct. Since its a human committee calling the shots they will be able to take into account the situation and circumstances. If LSU goes 11-0 they make it to the SECCG and a victory there locks them in the final four.

It sucks not having the warm up/fine tune but it happens. Time to answer the call on the field.
