Give me ABS all day every day and take the ball-strike calling away from the umpires across all of college and pro baseball. There’s too much money in play these days for human error to factor into outcomes
The ABS challenge system is perfect. I get wanting some human element in the game, but there’s way too much invested in these sports to have umpires who are “off” all night with inconsistent strike zones.

Does anyone have the number of ABS challenges we got reviewed/overturned last night?
I think it confirms to me what my eyes have been telling me for a long time about how bad the SEC umpires are in general. 80% of the calls in the first game of the SEC tournament were overturned by ABS, that made news. I know they announced at the beginning of our game last night that 33 of 55 had been overturned overall.

We showed up the ump tonight. ABS would change the outcomes of so many games across the SEC

What it showed me was to prove that, for the most part, college umps call a pitch where the catcher catches it rather than where it crosses the plate. Prove to me how bad these guys are at balls and strikes.

I imagine each ballpark will need the tech, but at least this tournament will definitely have it
I’d be willing to bet that a bunch already have it in place.

quote:what they rolled out is pretty good for most of college baseball. College pitchers aren't MLB pitchers. Adding the black seems like a no brainer. It's going to improve the strike/ball ratio in NCAA and will also get hitters swinging the bat more introducing more action into the game.
If they're going to enforce it, they need a consistent, accurate strike zone. Not the bullshite they made up for the SECT.
My vote goes to keep it and roll it out to every college baseball game from now until forever.

just hope it becomes an everyday fixture.

I fell what we have seen so far with ABS in the tournament have been great. Challenge made and 5-10 seconds later we see the outcome.
Now if the SEC and other conferences want to really improve the game, leave the frame up the entire time the batter is at the plate and all the world to see just how good or bad the B&S calls are, not just the ones that are being challenged.

All SEC games utilize Trackman technology. It is not shown or used to overturn calls, but it is allegedly used to grade umps.
