It just seems like a bunch of stuff thrown together to see what works. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see an identity yet.

I’m not pointing this out just because we lost. I think this offense has had major issues since the first game minus the Ole Miss game strictly due to how bad the Ole Miss D is.

Toss it up to Justin Jefferson or up the middle with Brossette

no need to have an identity when you have a winning record

Even though the coaches may not like it, we need to see more designed runs and rpo plays for burrow. Fitz took over their Auburn game with these.

too many offensive line injuries and changes each week... not in shape? slow feet? inexperience? lack of consistency? It all starts up front and 6 different starting line-ups can be a killer!

This is exactly what it looks like. No real scheme. Just a bunch of disjointed plays with no continuity. Orgeron told us before the season that we would see a creative and innovative offense. So far, that's not what I'm seeing. What we've got is essentially Les Miles 2.0 with a better QB.

It’s a spread offense built around the run game.

dumbest comment I've seen here in a long time. We need to know what we are when we play the better teams on our schedule.

Again, merely pointing to the W-L record doesn't really tell you how good or bad a team is.

I thought we were playing for the West and not just a winning record?

Right now it seems that Ensminger is a genius at scripting plays to start the game. His in game adjustments at the moment are leaving a lot to be desired. I also believe we are having a Beckwith/DJ Welter situation at WR. There isn’t a single play that I see Giles run that I don’t think Chase could do better. I don’t care if he knows the entire playbook. Need to figure out a way to get him more involved.

The patchwork OL is the biggest problem. I’m surprised LSU was 5-0 with this OL.

I think the "identity" thing is over rated.

If anything we need to be "multiple". You do what fits your players, firstly QB, secondly OL, are good at...

... then you change it when the defense starts taking it away. I don't care how good your players are, the defense has the advantage in that they can always take one of them away (hello LF7).

No plan survives first contact. If you insist that it does, you'll pay.

Now, the identity you speak of is embedded in my comment above: the part about doing what suits your players. Yeah, you have to figure that out. And then evolve from there. It seems that we're still "forcing" an identity. Instead of the "square peg in a round hole" Miles era, it seems we've evolved into "square peg with rounded corners into an ellipsoid hole". With different, but similar, results.

In short, no we haven't quite decided on an "identity" that fits the players (instead of one that fits a philosophy or theory) so we haven't moved on to the next step of having multiple identities to face our opponents.

Yes, sometimes you have to just do your thing. Sometimes you just have to man up and beat the other guy down. Sometimes... those other times, you have to trick them, set them up, confuse them.

Once the defense adjusts, Ensminger is toast. I agree 100% about the WR situation. No more Giles. Rotate Jefferson, Chase, Sullivan, and Anderson, and let Burrow develop chemistry with them. McMath is huge and can catch, so for God's sake let's use him as a weapon.

“ i’m not pointing this out just because we loss”

All that needs to be pointed out is that six games into the season, our current offense is gaining less yards per game than Cam’s 2015 or Canada’s 2017. As we all know, we fired both those guys.

I am not saying anyone needs to be fired, but all this offense stuff is disappointing and lacking of any significant improvement from what we have experienced for a number of years. imo

He is a Genius on our 12-15 scripted plays, after that he falls off the rails. Look at every 3rd qtr this year, the defense adjust and he doesn't.

To answer the OP, no LSU does not have an identity on offense. For the life of me, I can not wrap my head around the offense scheme Saturday. What did he see that he wanted to bring back Canadas offense mixed with Miss State passing game??? After the first series, Florida just sold out and blitz just about every play...yet we didn't adjust and hit quick routes over the middle.

It’s absolutely pointless, but it’s a talking point for whatever reason
