In one very rigid analysis, certainly.

You can also take a similarly narrow view and state that Mulkey was already a national Championship coach, was paid a dump truck full of cash, benefitted from a period of open free agency when it comes to roster construction and did what she was paid to do.

But why nitpick among worthy candidates as to who is the least deserving.

Kim Mulkey is the only name of a coach that should be anywhere near our basketball arena.

In the world of sports, money is king. I’m curious if women’s basketball turned a profit, even in this championship year?

KM is a great coach, but women’s basketball isn’t exactly a good value…
quote:

Kim Mulkey and her surging women’s basketball team clearly gained interest as ticket sales jumped by $842,526 and contributions increased by $551,336 in her first season. The program generated more NCAA distributions and sales at the arena than the year before. But higher operating expenses, mostly from compensation for Mulkey and her staff ($5.1 million combined), resulted in a $6.55 million deficit for the team.

And have no court named

I say name a dumpster after Brown and locker after Gunter and Brady. Only champions should have name on courts.

Yes, or at least I hope it does for the brass at LSU.

Give Mulkey whatever she wants. She is worth it and more.

I love the overwhelming downvotes with no comments. Kinda shows the mindless Pavlovian mob mentality of the “brown-haters”, “woke watchers” and “Mulkey lovers”.

What “Mulkey puts in perspective” on court naming is a very rigid idea about the value of winning a national championship vs a more broad view of the overall contribution to a program.

Paul Dietzel, Nick Saban, Les Miles and Ed Orgeron all won a National Championship at LSU. Will we ever see Dietzel-Saban-Miles-Orgeron Field @ Tiger Stadium???

You can make a good argument that those four, and Mulkey, by virtue of winning a national title have reason to be honored with the court/field named after them. But there are other circumstance which factor in. Certainly the length of tenure and way they left affect Dietzel, Saban and Orgeron. Miles scandal precludes him from being honored. We don’t know how Mulkey’s tenure will play out.
