JJ was a Dale Brown hire, as was Smokey was a Skip hire. When those folks hire someone they are given much more latitude than others.
What is concerning is that our great A.D. may be responsible for two head coach hires in two major sports.
As to all the comments re: Les Miles, although he is a great person, he was not a very good coach. That is never more evident then him being passed over by much smaller programs since his firing.
Great players help make a bad coach look good.

Does he get fired
Absolutely but only after LSU signs Scott Drew, coach of the rising rebuilt Baylor Bears, to a 5 year contract for 15 million...
Shaq would chip in just to see big TV coverage of his Alma mater and his statue outside...

I'm hoping not. I'm hoping Aleva is fired this week and the new AD hires the new coach

Does a bear shite in the woods? johnny jones is gone. They letting him finish the year. No reason to fire a head coach right now.

Freaking better. I'm tired of not even trying to be a competitive program.

Alleva is not getting fired unless O or the new basketball coach fail.
I think we'll be fine with O, but Joe better not go cheap with the new basketball coach.

Joe went cheap when he hired O.

He will if F Alexander needs a fall guy

Yes, Johnny Jones is done at LSU following an opening round loss in the SEC tourney.

if they considered for a second keeping Jones beyond the end of this season, that person doing the considering should be gone too.
I'm done now. I am a basketball guy. Dump him. give an assistant the interim title and shop for someone really good in the mid majors.
someone posted to get the Iowa State coach. its not happening. Prohm was very good at Murray and he is still competing in one of the top 3 conferences.
He will be seen as he can be, in the next two years. He came in late last year. Next year's recruits will be his first in the swing of things at Iowa State.

Irish man/woman
start a thread and explain the good things you see from this year's JJ team.
IMHO they look turrble.
have you seen Wichita State this year?
compare this squad to some of the top mid majors. 7 out of 10 games LSU would be TROUNCED. someone gets hot, LSU wins a couple.
I think they are worse this year. Do you think they are the same as last year or better?

Very quick, but played out of control, and couldn't shoot a lick.
sounds like a JJ coached team

LSU made Miles seem like a good coach. He was far from great.
Well there were 6 coaches between he and Cholly not named saban. Those guys must have been really shitty if LSU couldn't make any of them good coaches.

If LSU finishes above .500 I will be shocked as will probably 95% of us who "know" basketball. When LSU has a losing record at the end of the year, does he get fired? I don't know what his contract says or how many years he has left and am too lazy to look. Just like Coach Miles he is a great person. But, just like Coach Miles, he is not a great coach
Right now Coach Jones has a 61% winning rate. His first year we finished 8th in the conference. His 2nd year we went to the NIT, his third year we made the NCAA tournament and got knocked out the first round (which is referred to as the 2nd round now because of the play-in games). Last year was his fourth year and we all know how that turned out.. Then here we are.. 9-7, we lost the last three games, 1-5 in the SEC.. In three of those 5 SEC games we have given up 90+ points.
This past Saturday vs Alabama, they were offering tickets in certain sections for $5. There are HS games that cost more to get into. There is nothing to get excited about, if they continue to lose less and less people will go to the games.. We are the program that had a 1st overall NBA draft pick on our team and couldn't make the NCAA tournament. From the end of last year until now, the program has sunk to the point that I think the only move would be.. To fire Coach Jones..
And as for as the Les Miles thing, I wish Jones would win 78% of his games. If he were able to do that each year, we would have finished the regular season last year, 23-7... Instead of 17-13.. And the football program didn't have to lower ticket prices to get people in the games.

Football program is why a sport like basketball gets a new practice facility or has top of the line weight room.
And that program was well established before Joe got here. All he's done is raise prices and Les fans show up now then when he first got here.

He better fricking get fired after this year. This is the absolute worst lsu basketball team that I have ever seen in my lifetime and I'm sure nobody will disagree with that. We are fricking horrible. We will not win another game this year and I would bet on that shite. Johnny jones has lost this program and what the frick has he ever done that makes anybody believe that he will turn it around next year? He sucks badly and our team is a reflection of their coach.
