If LSU finishes above .500 I will be shocked as will probably 95% of us who "know" basketball. When LSU has a losing record at the end of the year, does he get fired? I don't know what his contract says or how many years he has left and am too lazy to look. Just like Coach Miles he is a great person. But, just like Coach Miles, he is not a great coach.... decent would be the word I would use. It's apparent that he can "lure" a few great players here with Martin, Mickey and Simmons but you need players like that year after year to have a chance at getting to and advancing in the NCAA tourney. I hope they fire him. Just like Coach Miles...... JJ's time is up. Time for new blood.

Stop comparing Jones to Miles. Miles was a successful coach. The best coach in college football history built his team specifically to beat Miles and LSU.

Miles might have grown stale here after more than a decade of success, but he was a great coach.

Jones will never sniff a fraction of the success LSU had under Miles.

LSU made Miles seem like a good coach. He was far from great.

Yeah right. Saban was building his team to beat everyone, including Miles. You're giving Miles waaaay too much credit for Saban to even be thinking of Miles.

I guess it depends on your definition of "great". If someone does the same dumb thing over and over and over and over again and gets the same result, most people call that insanity. Miles was very hard headed for not changing QB's during the National Championship game against Bama. He will forever be remembered for that AS MUCH as winning the 2007 National Championship.

I agree with you on this last quote...

I just know this is what is going through Joe Alleva's pea brain.

Stick around. If baseball is bad maybe you can have the basketball, football and baseball coach fired.

if they considered for a second keeping Jones beyond the end of this season, that person doing the considering should be gone too.

I saw Jones play every game when he was at LSU. He was nothing close to great. Very quick, but played out of control, and couldn't shoot a lick.

Very average player.

Honestly I have to agree and it's sad to say so because Johnny really is a good guy in every aspect. I truly wish he would have succeeded more though I was not in favor of the hire.

But I think even his apologist for the most part have even fallen by the wayside in increasing numbers each year. Few are left and it's because it's obvious really. You can only rationalize and excuse what you are seeing for so long before you have to admit it.

I don't know.

Does the Swimming Coach get fired for leading LSU Swimming to last in the SEC?

Does the Tennis Coach get fired?

Do any of our failing coaches get fired? Or will it be the same old smoke and mirror excuses they give to Joe Alleva every year as they explain to him why they are again at the bottom of the heap.

Maybe LSU only gives a shyt about Football.

One thing is for sure, now that Mr Joe has got the Football situation in check, he can focus on everything else.

Fair warning to the bottom of the heap bunch of coaches.

Yes. But the shittier part of the equation is that Joe Alleva will be picking his replacement.

LSU has been fooling around ( probably not strong enough word) with bb for as long as I have been watching LSU sports - 1951 or '52.

We need to get serious about bb. I had great expectations for Alleva 'till i understood how he threw lacrosse team under bus. He's weak, not the answer & neither is King.

Serious analysis need by school to put someone charge who knows & cares about LSU & the basketball program.

I don 't have answers, but continuing on this path is pure schizophrenia, doing the same thing expecting different results.
