Given Hurd’s struggles, does Herring get the start or is he first out of the bullpen?

I think they'll use him in a tight game 1 or 2 first, but if that doesn't happen it wouldn't surprise me.

I get Hurd has struggled but if Shores is injured you can’t afford to take anymore of the proven arms away from the bullpen.

I would try Little and see if the change of role helps him.

I am going to imagine this weekend the 3rd starter will be TBD and Johnson will see who he needs for game 1 and 2 then make a decision.

I am thinking Herring or Edwards, depending on who is needed in games 1 & 2.

With how good the offense is, I think we can put up enough runs to win on sundays as long as we don’t have total meltdowns on the mound.

I would go with guys who can eat innings and throw strikes. Dutton, Hellmers, Gavin Guidry could do well in that role.

If you have to use Herring to close out a game or get some tough outs, you must use him. The bullpen is too thin to hold guys back for a potential game 3 start.

I'd focus on winning games 1 and 2, then throw whatever I have left in game 3.

I'm sure it's been discussed before, but can someone refresh my memory on why Noot isn't pitching this year.

Agree...just stop throwing Hurd out there and give yourself a chance. Walking people cannot happen.

I don't know, but somebody else has to start game 3. Hurd either needs a break or something.

The kid is just off, this is why we have Wes Johnson. Needs to work some magic.

Tournaments would be killers if the slip and lose a game.

It all depends on how the bullpen is used the first two days of the series. Its a TBD if Herring is needed the first two days you use him. If we can hold off on using him the first 2 and secure victories then it is very likely we start him in game 3. All depends how the series plays out the first two games.

The saving hope is this lineup will more than likely demolish any teams 3-5 starters.

I think Edwards gets the start.

Guidry is going to get a real opportunity this weekend

Herring's longest outing's this season so far:

2.1 IP (3/21 C.ARk)
35 pitches (3/25 ARK)
8 batters faced (2x, in both games above)

I had thought Little but was surprised to see him start last night, though it did look like he was on a strict 30pit count. Even if him, he is still not really stretched out to go that deep, so I think in most situations you are looking at a Wholestaff situation.

Considering Little was on a 30 pitch limit yesterday I'd say that's an indication that he's starting. I'd expect them to start extending Herring a bit more but he's only pitched like 9 innings all year. Kinda hard to throw him in a starting role without building up to it a bit

Absolutely 100% do NOT touch Edwards

ETA: Let's not forget Sammy Dutton started multiple games for us in the SEC last year (They weren't great). I know he's been off this year, but he has the experience to trot out there and get it done especially if we get up 2-0 in the first two games.

Edwards

He's too important of a bullpen piece to take him out.

It will have to be a Coleman type role for Edwards. I think that will be best to utilize his value. If he needs to come in the game on game 1/2 in high leverage to get you the save or just keep you the lead for a 3-4 inning stretch then that is fine. If the offense handles business and can get away with keeping a lead without throwing Edwards, he starts on game 3 and let him go as long as he can.

That would be my plan as of now anyway. Regardless of the plan, you cannot just stop throwing Hurd out there. He needs to get it figured out for this team to reach potential at the end of the season. Especially if the news with Shores ends up being season ending.
