Does everyone realize there was no spike?

I understand the whole series of events was a total cluster fu$^## and I'm just as pissed as the next guy, but I get the feeling that some people do not realize that the last play never even happened. There was no spike. The clock expired before we snapped it.
Still no excuse for not having the field goal team out there and at least attempting to get a FG off and simply pray that the refs don't call game before the snap.
Nonetheless, there was no play ... game was whistled over before the attempted spike.
My biggest issues were (in order of what I'm most pissed about)
1. Play calling on 1st and 2nd down at the 32 yard line
2. Not getting the timeout until 9 seconds
3. Field goal team not huddled around the Specials Teams coach just waiting to be signaled into the game.
4. Running the same damn fade on the second 2pt conversion attempt.

no excuse for not having enough time get a FG off...should have called a TO earlier

Why do you keep focusing on the unimportant topics? Are you just trying to evade the real discussion? Just trying to feel better?

2 TOs, 50 seconds left, 32 yd-line, no FG attempt. Beyond mind boggling.

Everyone keeps talking about the spike ... who called the spike ... miscommunication on the spike... Jefferson spiking it... Miles lying about the spike, etc, etc, etc.
To me, the last second deal was not the most troubling of our final minute issues.
There was no play. There was no spike. There would have been no field goal. There would have been no play going for the TD. Time expired before the snap.

We also let Ole Miss run entirely too much time off the clock on their last drive.

I realize there was no spike. However part of the reason was because Jefferson was looking to the sideline and not getting under center. The ref waited over the ball a long time waiting on the chain guy. If we had fg team prepared and running on field as soon as TT went down we had a small chance of snapping it as soon as whistle blew.

The point is that if Miles was prepared for that situation, he would have either kicked the field goal or ran a play. there was no play because jj was completely confused and didn't hurry up to the line.

How did that happen?

I would put the first onsides kick at the bottom of that list. Even if they would have recovered it, I would have disagreed with the call. No need for it in that situation. Came back to haunt LSU too.

Which raises another concern, not being able to get the snap off in time after the ball was set for play

You've started two topics just about the spike/no spike.

for a moment it looked like lafell was going to take the snap because jj was nowhere to be found.

legally happened or not, the spike occured. That's a complete catastrophe that should never go undiscussed.

Personally, I didn't have a problem with the first onside kick. Their O was driving deep into our own territory every time they had the ball anyway, so it's not like they wouldn't have gotten there anyway.
It was the perfect time to kick an onside kick ... when no one in the world would expect an onside kick.
I had no issues with that.

Since you love defending Les so much and stand firm that he was signaling the player down, how many precious seconds did he waste by trying to play referee?

JP - the coaches called for a spike. Someone did. Because we spiked the football.
Whether or not it counted is irrelevant.
Our coaching staff somehow translated that play.
