Two years ago, before Liam Shanahan transferred in from Harvard, Chasen Hines was taking reps at Center. Could he give it another go, or does Charles Turner finally step into the role for which he was recruited?

I posted this in your other thread, but isn't he out of eligibility?

With the extra year, Hines should have another year I believe. Trying Hines at center is a good idea otherwise we better find one in the portal.

No. If he gets into shape , he can be an all conference guard. I believe the new strength coach and Davis will have him playing at a high level next year.

Xavier hill has worked a center also. He snapped pregame for qb warmup. After shanahan turner was backup and hill with 3rd qb and walk-on Payne with the 4th. So unless we get a transfer, turner will get first shot. Then we will see but watch for Xavier hill.

Chasen hines was too fat for guard.

You think he is going to play center?

Martinez will be next years C. If Hines comes back I would love to see them move him to the other side of the ball. He originally came in as a DT, and if we move to a 3/4 we will need depth at the nose. He has definitely struggled at OL, so I think there are better options at guard.

I'd rather Martinez or Dellinger than Hines.

Honestly, I'm ready to move on from Hines.

I think with the way Kelly works with offensive linemen, and the new recruit West, who is a center, could be a possibility!

I think several guys will get a look at center. Kelly and Davis should be able to spot and develop the right one. I'm officially not that concerned with the offensive line anymore. We may bring in 1 or 2 more guys, too.

Scot,

If you are asking me, I say move him to the spot that makes the most sense talent wise. Don’t forget his mental or physical capacity though.

This is only my personal opinion though. LSU doesn’t pay me >$500k a year for my knowledge and experience.

The extra covid year was only for SRs during to return the following year after the shortened season.

It didn’t apply to underclassmen

With you on Martinez but could be at either guard or center. I would like to see him at center but if hill/hines could actually play at an average SEC level I'd prolly like Martinez at guard.
I didn't realize Hines could come back---he is the perfect poster boy for the new nutrition/S & C guys!

And it did not go well at all.

Now...
- He might have learned the calls/recogs/assignments since then.

- We do not know if we need a shotgun snapper 99.99% of the plays under CBK

... so we couldn't rule it out. But just don't count on it.
