Domingue got in a fight after the game. I think it was in the median near the entrance to Tigerland. One thing led to another, a knife was pulled...

10 years old and there in the upper Southeast corner with my old man. Incredible atmosphere. Amazing finish.
Like others too. Rusty Domingue blocking the field goal then stabbing a dude later that night is always one of the first things I think of with that game.

I remembered it happening just not the details. I was 10 years old with my Dad and Uncle, etc in the South endzone upper at that game.

Rusty was a friend then and is a friend now. Heckuva ball player that had some serious issues that got the best of him. Turned out to be a very unfortunate night for his victim and for him. He was tried and convicted, The upside is Rusty turned his life around and became a Christian missionary which he continues to do to this day over 40 years later.

Yep, I remember being there for that one too! Wasn't it an early season game, maybe season opener?

Hi pup! Got your water and baby formula?

I was there. Rusty Domingue was the hero that night. Too bad he couldn't just enjoy the moment instead of finding a way to get in to trouble.

My first game in Tiger Stadium!

The heat and humidity took a big toll on the Huskers. By the time the 4th quarter rolled around, Ferragamo was so tired from the heat and the hits he had taken, he could barely get out from under center

I was there. It was electric and so loud- Tiger Stadium at its finest. One of Cholly Mac's greatest underdog games. Nebraska was gigantic. Mike Fultz, the All-American defensive tackle, was like 6-7, 295 which was monstrous for that time 45 years ago. But LSU's quickness and tenacity on defense game them problems. Robiskie got some key yards. Pat Lyons was the QB.
Domangue made the biggest plays on defense, but it was Blake Whitlatch of Broadmoor who was all over the field. He was a 6-4 250-lb. MLB who ran a 4.6 which was flying back then. I think he had like 16 tackles for the game, his first at middle linebacker against the consensus No. 1 team in the country and a humongous offensive line.
I'll never forget when our kicker missed a long FG as time ran out that sailed just wide right at the very last moment. The crowd gave a long standing ovation to the Tigers as they ran off the field and into the tunnel. They'd just played mighty Nebraska off their feet and nearly won the game! The crowd cheered like a victory as if they'd pulled the upset!

I remember listening to the game on the radio coming home from a fishing trip with my dad and a couple of uncles...

I was in the 10th grade at that time and was at that game. Rusty Domingue blocked the PAT for Nebraska.

Yep, got to know my favorite college gf that day.

I was there. I remember the front page of the The Advocate sports section had an article about Nebraska’s offensive line that week. They averaged close to 300 lbs which was unheard of back then.

Was at the game in the end zone in the middle of the NE fans. A great night until one of the dummies hung his little pennant in the face on the block play. A little reserve BR policeman came to the altercation & hauled me off with a disturbing-the-peace charge. The NE fan was charged with assault. :-)
I was in & out as they handed the guy his orange suit. Never heard from them B.R. again. Youth is a wonderful thing. So the old man gets to tell the story of how he once went to jail for disturbing the peace in Tiger Stadium.

I remember at the end of the game Nebraska intercepted a pass. The officials Said the Nebraska player stepped out of bounds and Tom Osborn went ape on the official.
I remember LSU recovering a fumble and LSU’s manager (ballboy) holding the completely deflated ball in the air
It was the first tie I’d ever seen and it was a yucky feeling. Grateful for overtime rules when they started.

Absolutely do remember, one of the biggest crowds and best environments in Tiger Stadium I had experienced until...
LSU vs USC 1979.

Tiger defense shut down future Super Bowl QB Vince Ferragamo! Victorious tie!!

I bought a ticket from a Nebraska fan outside the stadium and ended up sitting next to the parents of Nebraska QB and future L A Rams QB Vince Ferragamo. They were very complimentary of LSU and the campus environment. Tigers played them close three times in that era and the tie was the best outcome. LSU missed a 45 yard field goal at the end which would have won it.
Linebacker Rusty Domingue played an outstanding game and made many great plays. That weekend he was arrested for stabbing someone in a fight and never played another down for LSU.
