Football in college almost falls into the "too big to fail" category

Could have said the same thing about the NCAA tournament

Don’t see it happening either. Unless a wonder drug or vaccine comes out by July

It’s already out, it just hasn’t been FDA tested for this yet. The malaria drug containing chloroquine prevents the virus from replicating, or at least slows it down.

The FDA recently issued an emergency approval for use of this treatment in extreme COVID-19 cases while they test it.

If there isn’t, the pussification of our society will officially be complete.

all the downvoters are just too emotional to see reality. I love college football more than anyone, but i’ve already resigned myself to the fact that football is done in 2020.

Sorry kids, but that’s reality.

Unfortunately, it’s looking very unlikely and that’s the honest truth of the matter. Anyone who says otherwise is choosing to remain ignorant to the whole situation.

I think there WILL be college football this upcoming season. It will probably NOT start Labor Day weekend and MAY not include us fans attending games.

My prediction is a Oct 17 through Dec 12 regular season. 8 games played in 9 weekends with only conference games played among the Power 5. Conf championships played on Dec 19 and bowls/playoffs played Dec 26 on. Some smaller bowls are gonna get left out.

I read that some people want to play a season from late October through February. I just cannot see regular season games being played in January in places that have real winter.

The NFL doesn't open camp until late July or about 4 months from now. LSU's camp doesn't open until early August, which is also about 4 months away.

Do you believe we stay shut in our homes for May, June, July? Do you believe our economy stays shut down for the same length of time?

At the end of April, part or all of our economy will reopen.

The NCAA will play all regular season football and playoff games.
The NFL will play all regular season and playoff games.
The Masters will be played.
The remainder of the NBA season and playoff games will be played.

Life will get back to normal very soon which includes going back to work and play. There is no way possible our economy stays shuts down after April 30th which includes NCAA football, NFL, PGA and NBA.

Seems unlikely to plan on any event with large crowds going off like normal for the rest of the year.

Things change though

The first game is five months away. I think at worst they will limit crowds for the first few games.

My friend is the president of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. He told me yesterday that there are at least 5 companies with vaccines that are already being tested. He said if the FDA would get off some of the restrictions it would go a lot faster.

It should not take five months for them to figure out something that can improve the situation regarding the spread and prevention of this virus.
I left the house for the first time in 10 days today, and people were out and about like nothing is wrong. If there's no football season in 2020, it's because of dumbass, stubborn Americans that see this as nothing to worry about.

I think every major organization in collegiate and professional sports will be afraid to give the green light to full on sporting events because of liability and public scrutiny if people began getting mass infected once things do get going.

Unless a legit universal vaccine is introduced if which all beta are off and were back to normal.

Not getting better, and we haven't seen the worse yet. No football this year.

Tipping point is in July -- for all of higher ed not just for football. If universities do not resume brick-and-mortar classes in the Fall of 2020 it will be chaos. A lot of students going to take a gap year. Tuition revenue will plummet. On top of cuts to state funding, poor endowment performance, and reductions in private donations, this could spell disaster for some universities.

So forget about just football for a second. Your entire fricking university may be on the verge of collapsing. Harvard and Yale might be alright, but everyone else is in trouble.

April 3rd we can’t leave our house. I don’t see 100k in a stadium sitting on top of each other in a few months

Yes, but instead of getting frisked for flasks, you'll get your temperature taken. And God forbid you should cough in line...
