does a bad rush def (ole miss) get right against a bad rushing off (lsu), or vise versa?

Serious question, every pundit believes the beleaguered rushing defense in ole miss will reverse their season-long suckfest Saturday and bottle up our run game. Is there something that makes it easier for a defense to shine in a situation like this, than it is for a lousy running team to have a good day on the ground?

I think LSU will have a poor output because we’ve seen that against pretty poor defenses already.

I won’t be zero.

LSU will probably have between 75 and 125 rushing yards depending on how the game goes. I suspect we will be in that 3-4 ypc range unless we break one.

So, IMO, that’s Ole Miss getting better production out if it’s run defense than it usually does.

We arent running the ball on anyone this year outside of 1 or 2 games where we pop a big run or two to make the rushing average look ok

Bama's running game was rough before coming into BR last year.

The only reason we cannot run the ball is because of our lack of mobility at QB.

Also might be because half of our OL grades out in the 40's or 50's in run blocking...

Based on what we’ve seen so far from our O line, until proven otherwise, I suspect we will make them look like a very stout run defense.

I have zero faith in Brad Davis.

If they can’t push an FCS d line around, why would they be able to push around a SEC d line? Sloan better bring that Clemson game plan with him. Starting out with 2nd and long all day isn’t going to end with a W.

You’re an idiot.

191, 172, 221, & 178. The best job against the run was against KY.

No man he's right! Our amazing run game in the Miles years was based around the legs of guys like Jamarcus Russell and Jarrett Lee!!

To think, we also have Alex Atkins who was FSU's offensive line coach the year they beat us and went undefeated

What are you talking about?

Obviously LSU ranks very low rushing the ball.

We just rushed for 135 against SELA on < 4 ypc.

Where is your complaint?

I think we will have some gameplan from the Clemson game with more intermediate throws.

Creativity, extend drives, use Zavion and Aaron more. They can’t match up with an accurate quick Nuss.

Tire out OM defense and then run it up their gut

These are the ole miss defense numbers against the run and sack yardage is subtracted. In some ways I get the negativity, in other ways I don’t. I’m just wondering if historically it’s the defense that in a bad-on-bad situation like this solves its woes or the opposing team’s running backs who make hay. The talking heads presume ole miss’s run D will win this facet of the game. The universal opinion on this is based on what?

I’m talking about LSU hasn’t played against bad rush defenses. Go look @ the stats. It’s simply not true.

I don’t know what people are basing it off of. Their D has been consistently gashed and those offenses can’t do what LSU can. This is a terrible matchup and spot for Ole Miss.
