it sounds like a great strategy for this staff....set the bar low- keep expectations down- 7 wins....then actually win 8 or more. Boom. We’re trending up. Brilliant. No championships or anything but you can never get fired cause you ride that “improvement rollercoaster” back and forth for years.

It's a great season that 95% of college football would be excited about.
yes, but we're in the top 5-10% of college programs, so what's great for Wake Forest, Indiana, and Wyoming doesn't mean a thing to me.

Given all the resources we have, and the fact that we sit in the middle of a recruiting hotbed with no legitimate in-state competition, I'm aiming much higher than the other 90-95% of college teams.

That being said, 10-2 is certainly surprising. I'd be pretty happy if it weren't for the complete domination at the hands of Bama. There's no shame in losing to them, but to get taken to the woodshed, at home, is really tough to take, and takes the shine off a 10-2 season. It just shows how far away we still are.

LSU fans may not have been vocal about it and might have even said otherwise, but most expected a loss to Bama.

yes. But I think we let our record and our Defense tell us that we could beat Bama or at least be competitive. And people say "look what we did to UGA!" but imo, we didn't dominate UGA offensively. We had 6 FGs. Our pass game was average but not good. When we start scoring TDs, we can say we are trending in the right direction.

Burrow hasn't had a great game outside of Ole Miss. and honestly, a lot of people have career games against OM.

With our schedule, our season would be Great if we finish 10&2!!! Most 0f u knuckle heads had us 6&6

Obviously you didnt comprehend my post nitwit.

Yes 10-2 is great but it's still doesn't excuse the fact that with a competent OC this team is 11-1 and possibly in the playoff

Just because the team beat expectations doesn't mean we as fans should be content with the shite show of an offense we continue to have even after getting rid of the coach we all swore was the sole thing holding this team back

Honestly, that’d be a damn fine season.

Imagine this team with a real OC and a healthier, deeper OL. That’s all it needs to contend. A feature back would ideal but not necessary.

Seriously? Can you read your own post heading?
10-2 record. Sugar Bowl.

ANY NEW YEARS DAY BOWL...

It's like this Tiger fans; as long as Nick Saban is coaching Alabama EVERYONE ELSE will be playing for second best or third best (as is the case in the SEC West).

We will have to just get used to playing for a 10 win season, 11 win season and a New Years Day Bowl which about 99% of the rest of the NCAA schools would be completely and totally happy with.

10-2, Sugar Bowl? Yes, I'll take it.

so you're conceding the West to Bama as long as Saban is there, and a loss to another team too???

That's just pathetic.

So, we are now measuring success by the lowest prognostication?
Las Vegas had us at 7-8 wins.
Looks to me like we finish the regular season at 9 wins, with a loss at College Stations. Ten is certainly possible.
The bar set by Miles at about 9.5 wins was what got him fired, because he could not beat Bama or win championships after '11.
It does not appear to me that we have materially enhanced our performance, as the distance between LSU and championships seems to be increasing, not decreasing.

You know, maybe I'm the outlier here...

I'd be much happier if this team was losing more games but showing some real signs of life on offense.

LSU being 6-3 or 5-4, turning the ball over but scoring points and looking competitive... I'd take that.

I'll take a down year where the offense is going for it and coming up short over a 'successful' season where the offense is still not good enough to compete for a championship.

Maybe I'm off-base, IDK.

“ preseason expectations up 6 to 8 wins”

When Joe came to us, my expectations went to 10-2. I never bought into the, we don’t have talent on this team stuff. A lot of SEC programs changed coaches last year and I didn’t expect many of them to become good overnight. Hell, if not for some coaching blunders on our part we might have 11 games last year.

If our offense can step up, there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to walk over the next three teams.

It's a good season, and better than expectations. That said, it isn't the kind of season you move on from an established national championship coach to hire a d line coach off the staff of the guy you just fired for.

It's a good year. I hope it is the baseline for O, but I expect this to be the exception.

The bowl has to be considered. 11-2 would be good. 10-3 would not be good, but it would not be bad either.

Silly question. That would be a great season. Considering most people's preseason expectations, and there was ALAWT of negativity from people, it would be a major victory...

No. It’s just a consolation. Bowl games are meaningless now. I want to win a championship or at leasr get to the playoffs. Until there is a coaching change or Saban retires we will be settling for consolation bowl games. Need to make a change to have any hope of playoffs.

double digit wins is always good for LSU.

If we end up 11-2 and in top 10, that would be very good.
