I’m indifferent, but I still call them ULL.

Inferiority complex in Lafayette. Lived there for 2 years, and was indifferent to USL when I moved there. HATED USL within 6 months of living around their delusional fans and alumni.

Obviously LSU will always be #1, but I pull for all Louisiana schools to do well.

Have no interest in their games, really couldn't even tell ya what athletic conference they are in.

They tried to play politics to be UL and forgot that Northeatern could do the same so became ULL and ULM.
Really not what happened but whatever, people make up shite on here all the time.

BTW, USL opted to go major college after going 0-11 the season before.
again, not what happened. The entire Southland Conference was division I when divisions were introduce in 1973 and continued as Division I-A when the I-A I-AA split occurred until 1982 when the ULL left to remain Div I-A. they were 1-9-1 in their last I-AA season, went 7-3-1 as a Div I-A Independent the next year.

LaTech opted to go major college too that year but they had a winning program.
La Tech stayed in the Southland as Div I-AA school from the time that option was available in 1982 through 86 then went div I-AA Independent until moving up to Div I-a in the 1989 season after a 4-7 season in div I-AA. they went 5-4-1 their first season in I-A.

of my relatives went to USL, some when it was first founded and at least one hall bears a family name.
I sure hope their name isn't on the building the history department is in (Griffin Hall)

Indifferent. Its hard for me to root for a school outside of LSU, but I not going to root against them unless they are annoying me at the moment. At this moment ULL is not annoying me.

Never realized how strong little brother syndrome is until I moved here. It's laughable how delusional a lot of their fans are, and how bad they want to matter. Somehow they think changing their name from ULL to UL makes them more relevant.
They also think the reason LSU doesn't play them more often in basketball or football is because LSU is scared to lose to them.

I went to USL as well. Back then there was no hate/penis envy. We were all LSU fans and went to Baton Rouge occasionally to party with old high school friends. I don’t know what happened to cause the current situation.
Not sure when you went but that was there when I was a student in the 80s. As was the stay in your lane attitude by some LSU fans.
The two groups feed off each other, I'm not sure it has gotten a lot worse, I just thing the people that do it have gotten louder and the internet/social media has amplified their voices. I pull for both, but I am much more interested in LSU football in particular.
My first year of college was at LSU and that ruin USL football for me, even as a student at USL. During my time at LSU, I heard no mention of USL from any students. Not sure when the LSU hate for ULL started but I think the whole name change thing from the mid 80s exacerbated the situation. I just wish people would stop, TBH.

I don't know any rational person who thinks that and I know a lot of Ragin Cajun fans.

back then LSU wouldn't/didn't play anyone in state except for Tulane, everyone did sort of stay in their lane, I lived in Lafayette after graduating LSU and would go to USL games if it didn't conflict with LSU, they were hostile towards you if you wore anything LSU, which at the time made up about 80% of my wardrobe

I went to USL in the 80's. Football players at USL and LSU hung out together a lot. I played with a few LSU players in the La All Star game. There was no hate there at all. During our off weeks, a bunch of us went to LSU games and they came to ours. Not sure when the dislike started.
