That’s a good point. It’s also very possible that the topic of previous crimes committed never came up. If he was required to disclose information to the school and didn’t then that would also be an issue.

Yeah. In the most fertile recruiting ground in the United States. With the best facilities and an endless bank roll for whatever he wanted. You think a dude that won 3 national championships and built a program from the ground up, IN OREGON, can’t coach? Or a guy who went out a national champion forgot how to coach in 3 years? If you think either of those things you’re out of touch.

There is 0 argument he can’t coach
0
Trying to argue he can’t coach makes you look like a fricking moron.
The only issue it the baggage. He didn’t kick the pitcher off his team when he found out about his criminal past. And that criminal past was particularly unsavory.
I don’t love it from a PR standpoint but on the diamond he’s a winner.

I never said he couldn’t coach
I don’t think saying he won 3 NC’s is a fair argument when it was over 24 years

Just looked up some of the Heimlich stuff and this says Casey didn’t know till it broke in the newspapers.
“Heimlich believed the university knew his status since his matriculation, but he says he never fully discussed it with Pat Casey until shortly before The Oregonian story broke last June. (The coach deferred questions on the matter to university officials, who declined to answer on the basis of student privacy restrictions.)”
Also earlier in the article the President of the University came out and said that Heimlich would still be welcome back for school and baseball.
“Ray, who declined repeated SI requests for an interview, at the time cited Heimlich's academic record (a 3.3 GPA), his "positive" role as a student-athlete and the school's adherence to U.S. educational guidelines regarding openness to those with a criminal record.”
I guess the coach could still go over the President and say no I am getting rid of him. I don’t know if that would have then turned into a legal issue.
Another thing, how in the world did the legal system give him such a light penalty after him admitting to the crime?
What a mess

That’s fricking stupid position. Guys coach 30 years and never win one.
He won 3. There are 2 coaches alive with more. Skip and Auggie.

Tiger fans hate everyone. We could hire DaveRoberts of the Dodgers and 95% of the fans
would bitch about the hire. Nobody is good enough for our fans, nobody.

This board wanted PM gone for not making it to Omaha enough
PM went to Omaha 5/15 years which is 33% & not good enough
Casey went to Omaha 6/24 years which is 25% & that’s ok?
PM made the post season 12/15 years & that’s not good enough yet it’s ok for Casey to do it 12/24 years?

I don’t understand why he’d leave such a situation in Oregon to live in Baton Rouge and deal with its fans.
It had better be a heck of a raise that fixes a heck of a money problem.
