I feel like he needs a few games to get his feet under him. I was a little surprised he didn’t announce the QB changes for either team.

He's one of the worst PA announcers I've ever heard.

How much money would it take to move the needle for LSU’s budget?

This is a BS take. Who else wanted it?

3 applicants Dixon by far the worst and he didnt have to line the pockets of the entire LSU Athletic Department just Fat Scott.

You need to pull your head out of your arse MikeD!

All of the above is accurate.

Borne shoes were gonna be hard to fill. But they could not have picked a worse person to call the games.

Guy blows as an announcer and overall individual.

I've worked with him on a project, great guy, pulled his weight and a lot more. I was impressed with him.

Well I hope like hell he just needs to get going. It was less than awesome. Don’t they have help up there? Like “hey, Clark is in at Qb you need to let them know”. So, for those that know about him, will the pressure make him quit or will he stick it out even if people are on him for not being very good?

I've tried...but he just doesn't have the voice to be a legendary PA announcer, and, yes, that is what this job deserves.

The responsibilities of the position have diminished over the years with the advent of technology. It used to be that this was the voice we relied upon to tell us what was going on with other games. That's been taken away.

We have too much shiny stuff to distract us to have a storyteller in the press box, and the PA gig now is little more than wresting hype man...and he's not good at either.

No I wouldn't want Hawthorne doing it either. How many missed player Identifications would that be. How about someone who actually was good at it and didn't have to have his dad write a check to Fat Scott to get the job!

Why’s he so delayed calling the first downs?

No. Jim didn't have a PA voice.

I want someone with gravitas. Someone who relays the action on the field, and doesn't make it sound like he's introducing a WWE wrestler every time he opens his mouth trying to mimic Michael Buffer.

As I said earlier, I know the role has changed, but we don't need the PA announcer to be a hype guy, the same way we don't need rap blasting between every damn play to get the crowd into the game.

Tiger Stadium's reputation was built by the crowd. The stadium is not being allowed to breathe because someone at LSU has determined fans need to be instructed as to when it's time to be involved in a game. It's ridiculous, and the halftime laser show can be cancelled from now on while we are at it.

More than 3.... I would have done it for cheaper. I announced high school football, basketball, all stars for 25 years. Even announced football playoff games in the Astrodome. I sent an email of interest with a resume and never heard a word.
