Doing a HS radio broadcast with a sidekick is very different than the job of PA in "the cathedral of college football". Lots of joking around and "war story telling" in addition to being a cheerleader for the home team have been the norm in the CHS pressbox. The National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers sets guidelines for the task and HS's seldom follow that. And Dixon nor the LSU women's bball announcer certainly didn't follow those in the PMAC. LSU should hire someone with college PA experience. Dixon should get the Nicholls or SLU job for a few years and then come back to TIger Stadium

Can I apply? Longtime Football and Baseball stadium announcer for large Texas high school. Able to announce, run down and distance on scoreboard, and pipe in music at same time.
Will retire tomorrow from day job and make it my full time commitment.
LSU grad, season tickets in family since the early 1950s.

Same here as I've been the PA announcer for football & basketball at the schools I've coached at and have done many playoff games and all-star games during my career. I'll be at the home games anyway and I would work for cheap! I even announced a few football playoff games in the Astrodome!!

The screamer guy that announces women's basketball games for a couple of years and men's games last year should not be near a microphone in Tiger Stadium.
I think that announcer worked for LSU as a cheerleader with a microscope running around the PMAC during men's basketball games in the past...

Dixon should never get the LSU job period he is a dipshit.. Just because his dad could afford to pay Catholic High to let him announce their games doesn't mean Woody should let him buy the LSU PA job for little Dixon!

I think there are some people in here who do not know the difference between stadium PA guy and Play by play radio announcer.
Franques does a fine enough job for me. His voice is familiar on the PA and he’s sharp / professional.
As long as we don’t hire a guy with a high try hard voice like saints/Pelicans have done in past then I’m good. PA announcer should be someone who fits seamlessly in the background of Tiger Stadium aesthetic - not someone who is at the forefront with annoying constant yelling

I’m not vouching for Franques, but Sid Crocker is my youthful memory of Tiger Stadium PA announcing, and I actually preferred his wonderfully matter of fact approach to Borne’s antics for some reason.
