I disagree. Although they haven't been great, there is clear improvement in technique. Our biggest issue has been continuity.

Davis can improve just like every other coach on this staff. However when you have 6 different OL lineups plus 2 true freshman at LT & RT the results are inevitable

2nd dumbest thing I’ve read today.

are you serious right now?

Not to mention that the OL looked good against State and whoever we played right after that (New Mexico?) when we found our best 5 OL. The issue has been injuries and a lack of depth. Injuries are a part of the game and the lack of depth can't be fixed in 1 recruiting class. Plus he did bring in a TON of players to compete this year.

OP has a lot of downvotes but I agree. Jacob Hester talked about the Oline yesterday and this morning on Off The Bench. He said there weren’t least 6 instances of the OL failing to protect basic stunts that is day one install stuff.

He’s always been a straight shooter and is a film junkie that gets access to the all 22 film. He was pretty disappointed with what he saw. It’s one thing to get physically beat but things that seem like coaching are a bad mark on Brad Davis

Two of our starting O Linemen are Freshmen and one is a transfer in his first year at LSU for the best lineup LSU has put in there. And the starters shave changed for almost every game.

You can’t expect consistent performance with the injuries we have. The O-line can’t operate as a unit without consistency

If we had played our best line from the State and NM games all season and this was happening, I would agree with you, but that obviously hasn’t happened.

While I don’t discount this is a basic thing, we have guys, most of whom aren’t super athletic for OL, who have been moving and changing positions all season. Also, don’t discount the fact that we have been trying to move to zone blocking for the majority of our snaps since 2019 and this is the first season we have stuck with it. Guys still look lost on who to pick up because they still aren’t comfortable with all of their assignments. That needs to be fixed, but it’s understandable with all of the injuries and shifting guys around.

Another factor that can’t be discounted with Davis is his recruiting. Last season was our best OL class in a decade and this one looks as good or better. He’s going to raise the talent level of this group, and that will do more than anything to help us improve.

Exactly, it looks like they have never played together!

OL has improved since the beginning of the year. But, it was in terrible shape to start. And, the injuries and shuffling returned it to a major liability.

But, it hasn't been bad "week after week" like you said.

I would agree that it isn't close to as good as it needs to be.

Seems like we had several recruiting busts that predate Brad Davis. The guys that have played are mostly younger guys he brought in via transfer or recruiting. Wire is a Senior and he is average at best. Thomas has been a bust thus far. Turner and Bradford are Juniors. They are average at best. Dumerville is a RS Soph and can’t crack the starting lineup despite his HS ranking and hype.

This offense will look like Arkansas, Alabama, Cincy’s offense soon. We need the studs up front. Regardless of QB, we can’t fricking run the damn ball at all. We can’t bc of the youth and lack of older talent on the O line. Orgeron’s inability to focus and manage a roster hurt us the most at the O line position.

The other thing never mentioned is how Corey Raymond completely failed at recruiting his last 2-3 years. Jay Ward is very good. Outside of Jay, none of the safeties that HE SIGNED are worth a shite. Sage is still young , so I will give him the benefit of the doubt. We don’t have very many corners that Raymond SIGNED that are worth a shite. Corner is more difficult bc Ricks and McGlotheren can play CB anywhere , but they aren’t in the team. Those are the only two CBs Raymond signed that panned out.

There is some truth to the OP. Hester and Tbob talked about it this morning. Guys aren’t even using proper technique on double teams which tbob was saying is the same no matter what position along the line you are in. They aren’t squaring their shoulders in pass pro or run pro.

This happens with youth. You can coach and coach and coach the poor technique out of players but until it becomes muscle memory players go to their norm when under fire. Think abour how many times people tried to chance Tebow's throwing motion .... he would spend months tweaking it but once the game starts he woukd revert back to what felr normal to him.

You've been misinformed. It's all Jayden Daniels' fault.
