Looking at the drive we had very little production on offense. The penalties bailed us out (and yes the were legit calls no doubt). But here is a eyeball summary of what went down:

I love the fact that we won, but we had 25 yards of offense that wasn't due to penalties (again legit calls) and my thought is we have to be better at moving the ball than that to win going forward. We all know those exact same plays would be no calls against the team coached by the angry midget.

We threw the ball 8 times and completed 2 of them. 2 more were "bailed" out due to penalties. We ran the ball 7 times with a total yardage of 7 yards.

I am not trying to take anything away and not looking to get into a nega vs. posi tiger pissing match, just throwing it out there.

Yes we got lucky that their DBs did not even give us a chance to make catches and thus conceded the yardage. 100% GREAT SUCCESS

If they were legit calls, which you concede they were, then no we were not bailed out. That's kinda the point of the penalty being a penalty.

Let me flip the script on you.

Go back and look at the 2nd PI on the throw to Jefferson.

I would argue that Auburn was the team that got "bailed out" on that play. That PI prevented what I think would've been a catch which would've made it a chip shot FG for the win.

My outlook is rather than making us beat them, they gifted us the yards.

They didn’t gift us the win because they took away our chance to catch the ball on a lot of those PIs (to varying degrees)

Would you have said they got lucky if we lost and had 3 offensive PIs would you?

You can argue whether the PI’s should have been called in that situation, but there is no question they were legitimate violations. If those PI’s don’t happen, those could end up in big plays. Or maybe they wouldn’t have. Don’t know, don’t really care.

So dumb. You think perhaps had they not interfered (legit calls, right?) that maybe, just maybe we would have completed those passes, resulting in more than said 25 total yards?

Yes, yes you are. You literally started a thread asking if we got lucky.

I don’t remember that first PI as clealry but the second one was probably a completion of JJ has both arms to catch the ball.

They couldn’t contain our WR and they were playing physical. Live by the sword die by the sword

A win is a win. It’s Auburn’s fault for committing blatant PI’s time and time again.

How many fricking games have we LOST b/c of unfortunate calls that kept opponents' drives alive?

Stupid OP stupid Thread.

Show me one National Championship winning team that hasn't had some "luck" in their season. It happens. It's part of the game.

If AU had 111 penalty yards and LSU only 5, then maybe there's something there for AU to bitch about. But let's not act like there weren't some pretty bad calls/no calls both ways.

If AU DBs don't maul our receivers there's no discussion about luck. That last PI would have 100% been a catch for a huge gain and maybe 6 points.

Perhaps Jefferson comes down with the pass down the sideline if the Auburn DB allows him to get his other arm up. It's not "cheap" yards if the opponent actually commits the penalty.

The first PI happened right in the middle of the field with the DB literally wrapping two arms around Giles as he went out on his route. The second PI was closer, but it was clear Jefferson was arm-barred.

LSU converted a 3rd and 7 and 4th down on that drive as well.

dude, a PI is the reason the ball wasn't not caught.

We have rules for a reason...

There was no bailing out...
