He was ranked #4 at his position; he probably lived up to that. He did not live up to the hype he generated after a few games.

Injuries or whatever., If he stays or gets healthy, he will be a star.

He did the first two years, but not so much this year.

I am disappointed in his overall career, but I can't say he didn't live up to his po. was it injury? attitude? not clear. he may be blameless. we did get 1 good year out of him.

He had a good freshman year, a very good sophomore year, and missed most of his junior year. However, he was dominant against Bama. It was the best game of his career when we needed it most, but the offense just didn't close the deal.

Here are the Career Sack leaders for LSU Not updated for this year

Career
Rank Player Sacks Years
1 Rydell Melancon 25.0 1980 1981 1982 1983

2 Ron Sancho 23.0 1985 1986 1987 1988

3 Gabe Northern 21.0 1992 1993 1994 1995

4 Jarvis Green 20.0 1998 1999 2000 2001
Melvin Oliver 20.0 2002 2003 2004 2005

6 Chuck Wiley 19.0 1994 1995 1996 1997
Marcus Spears 19.0 2001 2002 2003 2004
Sam Montgomery 19.0 2010 2011 2012

9 Michael Brooks 18.0 1983 1984 1985 1986
James Gillyard 18.0 1992 1993 1994 1995

Key had
5 Sacks in 12 games (9 Starts) in 2015
12 Sacks in 11 games (11 Starts) in 2015
4 Sacks in 8 games (8 Starts) in 2015

So 21 Sacks, puts him tied for 3rd in 3 seasons VS every other guy in the top 10 except Montgomery, who he finishes ahead of, playing 4 years.

I'd say he did OK.

He showed promise his sophomore year. Then the off season issues happened. This year was a total waste. He doesn't have the heart to be the best he can be.

He is going to be behind his peers. The lack of PT/reps this year AND departing early will hurt him early on vs NFL OT's. With hard work IRT technique and continued conditioning he has the potential to be an impactful NFL pass rusher IMO. Ball is in his court.
P.S. If the A Key that played vs Bama played vs ND....it would have made a big difference.

Would not bet against LSU linebackers these days. Yeah, I know it’s a bit different, but my point stands.

I would say yes, his JR year was only impacted by injuries which sucks as an LSU fan.

only?

What about the unexplained months-long absence? What about the weight gain, which can't be explained away by his injury?

Yes, he was a great player his sophomore year, but this year was a disappointment that can't be completely attributed to injuries.

He was a very good college football player. I don't think lived up to his potential. With his raw potential he probably could have been one of the best pass rushers in the history of college football.
