The Florida Gators were concerned with actions of one individual last Saturday. One bad apple that tried to give all of LSU a bad name. That individual had threatened to send unknown persons in to physically attack some Gator fans. It was the president of the Gator Alumni that asked if we would keep the inside area for Gator fans only. We went next door to Jackacuda's and let them know we would send all the LSU fans there. Everyone could enjoy their teams.

This is such horseshite.

Why don't they just say the inside is rented out?

I love the over reaction of not allowing Lsu fans due to the actions of one person.

It's all over my Facebook page. At least people are posting this more than the silly Facebook scams that littered my page for days. Truly a shame that the owner didn't read (presumably) the response from the restaurant before it was posted.

All this place had to do was say there was a private party inside, but the patio is available. There's nothing wrong with a private party. The response makes it sound like anyone but an LSU fan could eat inside. The hole got deeper with the response.

The interior of that place was not rented out to one group. They couldn't put a sign on the door saying closed due to private party. The restaurant was open to the general public that night...to EVERYONE as long as you were not an LSU fan. That is a form of discrimination although I am not sure it is illegal.

But, if a business is open to the public, it ought to be, indeed, open to the public.

That was my understanding as well...that anyone could eat inside but an LSU fan. It's definitely not an illegal activity. It's a poor business activity.

I would hate to see Harry T's Lighthouse get bad reviews on Trip Advisor, Yelp and Zomato. Those would probably hurt their business, which would be a terrible shame.

You should forward the response you received to the Destin chamber of commerce:

Destin as well as other cities in Florida depend on tourism for money, and is a VERY popular summer destination for Louisianians.
In fact Louisiana is in the top 5 going to northwest Florida, and bringing our dollars, so I would not let this pass.

To the Destin Chamber of Commerce,

I am writing you today regarding a concerning issue that is going on at a restaurant in your town. I visit your town at least once a year and have many friends and family that visit several times a year. I have been going to Destin since I was a child. Some of those friends and family rent condos year round in Destin. These friends and family are not just LSU fans, but also Ole Miss, MSU and Southern Miss. The recent behavior of the staff/management at Harry T's this past weekend is very upsetting. If a restaurant wants to allow UF alumni to rent their restaurant out during a game, that is understandable. However, the management and staff should close the restaurant entirely to just the UF alumni and not pick and choose who is and who is not allowed to enter the restaurant. They certainly should not have someone at the front desk berating them or telling them their fanbase is not welcome in the restaurant. A simple "This restaurant is closed for a private party" would have been sufficient. They stated in one email that has been posted across the internet that this was just an isolated incident that happened on Saturday, but then in another email they state that they do not want LSU fans ever in their restaurant because of a previous incident with an LSU fan. I don't know which email response is full truth, but it's causing a lot of questions to be raised about this business, not just from LSU fans but from other fanbases that are a part of your drive in tourism market. This fanbase is large and far reaching and to say these things to a fanbase that strongly supports the city of Destin with tourism dollars, is just wrong.

I know you have no control over how restaurants in your town treat customers, but perhaps you can help them understand how wrong it is to treat an entire fanbase that provides a lot of tourism to the Destin area this way just to appease 100 UF fans.

Thank You,

If they don't want us, let's make sure all LSU people know to avoid the place.

The times that I have watched a game in a bar or at somebody's house, to have an opposing fan or a group of opposing fans there makes it that more fun. It's more like being in the stadium.

Who are the pussies from Florida asking for no LSU fans?

The food there sucks monkey balls. I go to Fort Walton Beach yearly. I will not be spending any money at that place.

The NYT recognizes the power of the rant, a shite shack in Fla just found out the hard way.
