re: LSU Football Punter from 1948

This same Ray Coates was my freshman Algebra teacher at Jesuit in 1972.
He was the head football coach at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge from 1953 to 1958, returned to his alma mater Jesuit High School in 1959 as an assistant coach and math teacher, and later became head coach from 1966 to 1970. In five years as the Blue Jays head coach, Coates posted a 40-12 record and earned three trips to the state playoffs as well as a District V-AAA title in 1970.

Well, I’m an attorney trained at the great LSU Law School and I can count too. You are missing the big picture because you are afraid. Your fear is clouding your judgment. Read the data. Death rate continues to go down. 99.8% recover. High risk group is over 70. Almost 100% of people under 45 recover. All colleges should reopen and football should be played.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
I sure hope that you read your contracts and briefs more carefully than you did my posts MysticTiger. I have not yet expressed any opinion, judgement or fear. I've only cited data to correct inaccurate information posted on this board in my 2 preceeding posts.
For the record, I am desperately pulling for football in Tiger Stadium this fall, including a loud raucous crowd in the stands cheering our Tigers on to victory. BTW, I'm also a proud LSU alumnus in my 60s.
I will not be there myself. Not at all because I'm afraid, rather it's because I'm REALLY good at math and statistics and I don't like my odds. I'm in my sixties with 4 additional co-morbidities listed in my med chart.

Not true ToxicTiger. Daily deaths are down to 250. Same as when it all started in March.
You are partially correct MysticTiger. While there were (only!) 273 US deaths reported today, the current 7-day rolling average is 591.9 deaths/day. Moving averages are the proper metric used to smooth out the noise and/or establish a trend. I am no expert, but I do have a Master of Science in Public Health, even if it is only from Tulane.

re: Just another reason to CC if hiking the Appalachian Trail. (update)
Posted by ToxicTiger on 5/16/19 at 7:38 pm to TigerOnThe Hill
Many serious long-distance trail hikers are so pack weight conscious that they weigh every single item to the tenth of a gram. If you read trail forums, you will find serious discussions about how much weight you can shed by cutting the bottom half off of your toothbrush and drilling a bunch of tiny holes in the remaining handle.
Carrying an extra 3 pounds of gun, ammo and holster up and down mountains is a non-starter for almost all of these guys. That’s almost 10 percent of their target loaded pack weight.

re: this is a good Chicken soup recipe
Posted by ToxicTiger on 3/6/19 at 5:18 pm to keakar
I do use leg quarters for soup sometimes, because it’s cheap and I also prefer dark meat, but nothing else gives the flavor that comes from the chicken backbone. That is why I typically use a whole chicken.
Nothing wrong at all with a good leg quarter chicken soup though!

1970 MGB convertible. Absolutely loved it. No back seat, no air conditioning, 2-6V batteries hanging in baskets under the seats, but so fun to drive!

Skim the fat early and often. Most important is when it first starts to come to a boil, when you turn it down to a simmer.
re: Looking for a new pressure washer
Posted by ToxicTiger on 7/22/17 at 12:47 pm to poochie
I bought a Honda BlackMax gasoline pressure washer powered by the Honda GC190 engine 4 years ago at Sam's club. It starts easily every time and works great.
I do run the carb dry of gas EVERY time I use it, just like I do with my Honda generator with the GX390. Love both of them.
I do recommend replacing the hard plasic hose that comes with all pressure washers with a better, much more flexible hose immediately. You will be very glad that you did!

what are my chances of catching trout from the shore in Metairie?
You will probably have a very close to 0% chance of catching a keeper trout, however, you should be able to catch all of the 7" croakers and hardheads you could ever want.
