But he wore a blue lives matter shirt when all the police protest were going down in BR and Leonard said he supported the victims family.

So Leonard was a thug pos and Guice was a great guy with his head on straight. but…but…but…

One was a convicted felon. I don't remember any "distancing" of any sort by LSU from him.

And even if "more disgust" - that doesn't mean erasing history...does it?

Perhaps because he confessed to his crime of counterfeiting, did his time, never got in any kind of trouble again, humbled himself, and apparently changed in many ways for the positive and tried to give back in his life as he grew older.
OK, we had benefit of decades to gather that perspective. But in the moment of the conviction, what did LSU do? What did the fans do? His Heisman wasn't taken, but I believe his HoF spot was. Still, that wasn't LSU.

People love a good redemption story.
Yep. So then why cut off Guice at the knees in creating his own redemption story? He is MUCH younger than Cannon was when he committed his foul acts - Cannon had the perspective of adulthood (as well as a fully formed brain - the most recent research shows male brains likely don't fully coalesce until 29 or so) to aid him.

All I'm saying is stop pissing on Guice and let it play out. As LSU fans, we should be trying to create an atmosphere of tough understanding and tough support. The kid's father was murdered and then he watched it play out in the media and inside his family. That wasn't the only trauma he suffered.

A lot of the "christians" on this board seem to come with a surprising lack of humility, empathy and humanity.

There was no social media and piling on back then and LSU wasn't in the middle of a gigantic Title IX investigation. Guice was wiped from the books strictly because of the Title IX investigation and to make it look like they hadn't brushed everything under the rug when it came to his alleged incidents. I didn't agree with removing him from the record books, but that's why it was done.

No one wanted Guice to succeed more than me due to his upbringing and family history. I thought all the draft speculation was complete BS. But when story after story and allegation after allegation comes out about a person, you know that there is something there.

He can get redemption one day. And yes, he is still relatively young and did have to overcome an awful family upbringing, but the guy has also been given great opportunities and great support from many people (including the people that took him in and cared for him). He's at an age when he should know better in regards to decisions he has made. Social media doesn't help because it brings out the worst in people. But redemption can only happen though when you look in the mirror, admit what's wrong about yourself and then try to fix what's wrong. Guice does not appear willing to do that yet, so he naturally is taking flak for it.

There was definitely distancing between Cannon and LSU, it took a long time for him to come back and be welcomed back, another thing was he was contrite, didn’t try to deny or cover up anything, pretty sure he could have gotten out of serving time, whereas Guice is a tPOS.

The deshaun deal is different. He had 68 massage therapists in 18 months for a reason and it wasn’t just because he was a good guy that wanted some handjobs.

Taking him out of the record books was asinine. Especially when it meant that it moved Cecil Collins up the rankings, and he was actually convicted.

The definition of woke nonsense. React to the newest thing like it’s the worst. So stupid.

And yea, he just need to shut the hell up. He isn’t making it any better.

You did though. Otherwise why tell us about the rejection here?

I'd have said the same thing. He probably thought " shite I said too much and this dude is gonna start stalking me now tonight trying to find out what I'm up to."

One random accusation is one thing, but multiple accusations including one from a 74 year old woman with no reason to slander your name are hard to deny.

Bill Cosby got accused by a bunch of women with no one ever actually stating he raped them. Many of which were caught lying. So just because multiple women accuse you of something does not mean its true.

I remember he was probably my favorite running back ever at LSU. I followed him on Snapchat and noticed he posted a snap in San Marcos, Tx and just happened to be there at the time. I replied to it with something along the lines of “big fan, what you up to in San Marcos” not even expecting a reply. Dude replied 30 seconds later saying “mind ya fricking business”

Not weird at all. Did you send this response from your white cargo van?

No crime. Why would that result in him losing his records at LSU?

His records should stand imo but he isn't a good man. I've seen text messages from him to women that would have ruined him when he was in college. I had a good laugh when his counselor was at his game and ESPN kept spinning that story like he escaped the hood. He never left

If they wanted to wipe him from the record books, why not give back all the wins he was a part of?

The chance for redemption does not expire until the person does.
But if you want to talk about redemption stories, talk about TM7.
Unlike Guice, he actually got kicked off the team, was nearly universally castigated, but very quickly turned his life around and became a role model.
Guice, never paid a price or got "caught" until he got in the NFL and he was injured and somewhat damaged when he did. I have seen nothing by way of contrition. He can contend he's innocent, but few will believe him.
And Cannon was convicted, paid a huge price in prison and hasn't exactly been "lionized", as some suggested. He has a video of his run against Ole MIss that's part of LSU lore, but you rarely see Cannon honored by LSu or appear publicly on its behalf.
