If they make that decision, then we’ll see and they must have reasoning behind it.

King is coming to play now and Brennan only has two years left.
When Burrow came Brennan had 4 years left and plenty of time to play if he didn’t win the job as a true sophomore.
Completely different scenarios.

The difference there is negligible at best. Lawrence is not exactly a huge running threat. He can and has run but so has Joe.

What exactly are you trying to argue?

Exactly

What no one is bringing up is the reality that Brennan would probably transfer as soon as the decision to bring King in is made.

I wouldn’t blame him tbh.

If they bring him in, the staff better be almost certain King is the better QB because we’ll likely lose our backup in Brennan.

If he did then that would tell you all you need to know about him and his leadership potential wouldn’t it

If that's what the head coach (along with the offensive staff) thinks is best for the team, why would anyone not trust their judgement at this point?

Agreed and if a kid wants to transfer bc the coaches think we need to get better one way or another then show him the door

I want players who have that dawg in them not guys who want it handed to them

Well I brought it up, and it's true. Brennan and King will not both be on this team.

Brennan has first crack at this job. If he shits the bed during spring training and they decide to bring in King, then Brennan is out of here.

We aren't going to have to score 35+/game next year to win. Expect our defense to be markedly better(especially early) and expect our offense to be more balanced. King, with the talent around him, would definitely put up 35+/game in this offense. We would look more like Okie looks on offense this year with a stout D. That'll win you a lot of games.

If LSU kicks tires on any QB transfer, that should tell you a lot. By now, they should know what he can and can’t do. If they have faith in him, they are gonna try to put enough pieces around him to be successful. We don’t need a one year character issue leading this team if we have a guy ready to go.

And if that happens, so be it. I want the best guy for the job. I actually don't know if King is an accurate enough passer to optimize this offense. He wouldn't be playing in the AAC if he came here, to inflate his stats. But IF he comes here and beats out Brennan, then we'll know that Brennan wasn't going to work out, regardless. And If Brennan beats him out, and King transfers again, then we've lost nothing.

With this offense, LSU will be a popular destination for transfers every year, like Oklahoma has been, if we need to keep going back to it. But, at some point, we'll have enough guys in the program where we'll be able to make natural transitions from QB to QB.

What makes you think King doesnt have high character? Because he left Houston? Is Burrow the only QB allowed to transfer schools and still maintain his integrity?

It never ceases to amaze me how bad people on this site can be at drawing parallels.

The fact that Lawrence isn’t really a better “athlete” than Burrow. Both are about even.

For the 1,000,000,000th time...King did not quit on his team. Dana Holgorsen tanked the season and asked King and a few others to sit out the remainderof the season and redshirt in order to have them next year.

That doesn't sound like a recipe for keeping your job in college football

It’s not by a lot but there certainly is a difference. Joe is a very good athlete but Lawrence is a freakazoid

So you don’t think Burrow has that dawg in him?
