I confirmed Lane was coming here. Lane was excited about it. FAU came along though, and Lane loves his control.

Man that would have been fricking awesome, but we most likely wouldnt have gotten Joe Brady or Burrow.

The ironic thing is they were going after Tua hard. I don't know how much of an impact Kiffin would have had on swaying Tua but think of the irony of getting Kiffin + Tua. We may still have won a championship but with a different cast.

Well, by now, Kiffin would have left for a head job if he had any success at all at LSU. So, I’ll take what we got...even that brutal Matt Canada season.

Miles and his AD friend at Arkansas (Long) did the same thing to Alleva on a few years earlier. They got Les a nice extension.

I think he has even said it more than once. I find it hard to believe that Delly never truly believed it until now.

He was always going to get a head job offer.

Lane spoke to AD Joe Alleva promising he'd come to BR to be OC if (1) Joe hired O and (2) he didn't get a head job.”

All that would indicate is that Alleva is an even bigger idiot than we already knew.

Instead of waiting to see IF HE GOT A HC JOB, which everyone knew he likely would and he actually did on December 7th, Alleva rushed the decision and announcement of his hire in some sort of dicknose measuring contest with UT and Herman on November 26th even though there was zero competition to sign O.

Look, rehashing the hire is silly. Those of us that didn’t believe O would lead us to a championship were wrong, clearly.

The process was flawed, even more bush league than we thought if this “pinky swear” bullshite is to be believed, but it all worked out and it will always be considered a success, no matter how it ends.

If O gets us back into a NY6 Bowl next year, I’ll be wrong again, but the sustainability of this specific CEO model, especially now that he is a top 5 paid HC, is still uncertain and imo unlikely to keep us in CFP contention.

I still believe we will remain right about the same 9-3 type level we were at before he was hired and likely would have always been had Burrow not been available with little competition in the way he was.

But, I’ll be happy to be and admit I was wrong if he proves me to be so yet again. Here’s hoping and praying

Kiffen was always going to get and take a HC position. He ended up taking a second tier one at that.

He went to FAU rather than be OC here. If he didn't get that job he probably would've looked for another. He was hell bent on being a HC.

Lol. I’ve got a link bookmarked showing kiffin never said that verbatim. So now he says it after the fact??So you have the smoking gun? Where’s the link to what he said verbatim? I’ll post it tonight when I can get to my other computer because he sure as shite never said that before in his own words.

A lot of people thought that Orgeron got duped by Kiffin...That's why this is relevant to some people.

I guess you’ll have to message Delly for the audio if you don’t believe him

“In fact, during Alabama’s postseason run that season in 2016, Kiffin says he spoke by phone to then–LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, agreeing to become offensive coordinator in Baton Rouge under two conditions: (1) if the program hired then-interim coach Ed Orgeron as the full-time leader and (2) if Kiffin didn’t land a head coaching job that offseason (he did—at FAU).”

we should have had a better B plan than hiring Canada or E.

Don’t get me wrong. Canada was especially underwhelming. But I don’t think there is any reason at this point to talk badly about Ensminger.
