Are you deliberately trying to destroy the tradition of Mike the Tiger? Is the tiger you are borrowing coming from a truly accredited sanctuary? Are you willing to resign your office if this turns into the debacle I think it could be and LSU loses accreditation to have a live tiger on campus?
Go on…

It’s getting a lot harder to find reputable places that donate them.

(we almost didnt get our current Mike after the last one sadly passed).
Why?
Dr. Baker did his damnedst to make sure every i was dotted and t crossed.
He found a suitable candidate at a sanctuary and was on his way to get him when he got a call from the USDA (I think this was the agency) telling him the sanctuary donating the tiger wasn't accredited and if he took that tiger, LSU would not be allowed to get another. At that point, Dr. Baker went back to square 1 and that search resulted in the present Mike.

Jesus Christ. Relax OP. You act like this is the end of the fricking world. PETA can eat a dick. Nobody is telling LSU to get rid of Mike. The fact that people are butt hurt over this is fascinating.
PETA is the perceived foe here but IIRC not the real one. Trading big predator cats outside of accredited sanctuaries is illegal domestically and internationally. The last time we needed a new tiger we had to address the issue of a state institution violating the law on selling big cats. In fact we had to find one that could be donated to LSU by another accredited facility.
I am not supporting either arguement here. I personally like Mike coming in the games. But this is what I remember the issue being…

It a tiger. You can’t just go to the pound and pick one up?
And LSU can’t/won’t go to some sketchy back yard operation to get a tiger and give legitimacy to that individual’s operation.

LSU isn’t going to source them from some random place somewhere anymore. They only get them from the major, accredited rescue/sanctuaries. Those places are getting more strict in where they donate tigers to and the conditions that the recipient will keep the tiger in. And the available sources are dwindling in number—the place LSU got multiple tigers from before the current Mike folded a few years ago.
It’s really not hard to understand.

Thank you! This is the sort of thing I'm talking about and I'm quite certain that the homework has not been done.
IMO this is another case of Jeff Landry doubling down on stupid.

I'm sorry Mr. Professor. I didn't see any actual facts in his statement. But you continue to be butt hurt over the tiger. You could video yourself melting and put it on Instagram with the rest of the bitches.

Yes they have. Now Landry is bringing Mike and the imposter tiger in to the stadium.

So the USDA would rather the tiger remain at a non-accredited facility than at LSU? From where do they get their tigers?

Dude, you’re just as retarded as Landry.

, you're obviously not aware of what Dr. Baker went through to get Mike VII. He was on his way to pick up a tiger when he got a call from USDA telling him that that particular sanctuary wasn't accredited and if he took that cat, LSU would not be permitted to get another tiger after that one passed away.
So the government said you can only purchase a tiger from us and if you get one from anywhere else we will pull your permit?
Sounds like communism.

The USDA doesn’t want non-accredited facilities dealing tigers at all.
quote:
From where do they get their tigers?
Retards like gas station owners and tiger king.
Actual facilities, and the government, are trying to shut off that spigot and the market for it.
Again, it’s not difficult to understand.

No. As long as they meet the standards of care, etc.
Rescue centers =\= sanctuaries.

I haven’t seen one mention of this on any official LSU social media page. If I missed something please let me know. If this was sanctioned by LSU, think there would be all sorts of posts.
LSU does a tremendous job with their social media so this just seems odd

IDK, logically, he has a point. They knew what and where this facilty was and does nothing to them but threatened LSU? You can't say that isn't illogical.
