From people who should be in the know; this was Maestri's wish when he retired, and Dean should be named UNO coach.

Should we assume you're talking about Blake Dean?

You make this sound like an official announcement, which it is not. He is a top name for the job though. I'm not certain he is ready for it TBH.

1 year as an undergrad assistant at lsu
1 year as volunter at UNO and he's in line to be the HC? seems unlikely

Dean will recruit Florida, Elleck Edwards will recruit Parkview, and Ibarra will handle California.

Dean is what 26 or 27? No way he becomes a head coach at a DI school.

Matt Riser is all of about maybe 30, and he has won the Southland twice in a row at a much better program than UNO.

UNO likely has to go dirt cheap salary-wise with this hire. Combine that with the Dean-Manieri angle, and it is a decent possibility.

Riser also had higher level assistant experience than Dean currently has.
