The first time the PMAC was coined “Deaf Dome” was the 1978 KY game. Was a freshman that year. It was the first time we beat KY in decades at home. They came in rated #1. We were just beginning to get young talent to surround Rudy Macklin, our one star on the team. Our entire starting line up fouled out late in regulation. Game went to OT and we won with our 2nd stringers. The dome was ear splitting load…the students were going nuts. That was the beginning of the great Dale Brown run of highly competitive basketball teams when the PMAC was always selling out.

The raw energy and excitement of KY game this past week reminded me of that awesome memory. Then followed up with even an even louder TN game. Deaf Dome is back! Get behind this team for what is going to be a an exciting time to be a Tiger.

move the students back to where they are their best! Mid court!

Hoping PMAC gets a makeover and all of the seats are brought down further also.

Between the men's and the women's teams, if feels like we're approaching a second golden age for both programs.

It. is. Amazing!!

They finally moved the doughnut eating journalist types out of the primo seats.
Dale ruined it when he let the journalists go the first few rows courtside of prime real estate moving the students further away from the action …… then the move to behind the goal. Journalists still got good behind goal seating to the side …….. move those clowns to the top of the middle section AT BEST.

If only our dumbarse students would stop putting their spirit hands up when our own team shoots free throws it would be an improvement …… also … bring back the newspapers for the starting line up announcements!

first play of the game...Rick Mattick with the two hand jam. Place went berserk and stayed that way. All starters fouled out and Floyd Bailey (the Dubberly Dude) saved the day. Pretty sure that UK team went on to win the natty that year.

I was at that game. Kentucky lost on Wednesday and then came to LSU for the Saturday game as LSU won 95-94 in overtime.

Second string finished the game and those Wednesday and Saturday games were the ONLY GAMES Kentucky lost that year!

I have a feeling the next decade or so is going to redefine what LSU basketball considers its “golden age”

Don’t know about the whole decade but we beat them at home in ‘74 95-84.

Oh yeah, the newspapers were awesome for the other teams starting lineups. Everyone would get fired up and the students were still on the sideline back then. I remember walking out with some ringing eardrums back in the Chris Jackson and Shaq days. We got loud.

They should bring back the Deaf Dome crowd noise monitor that lit up as the PMAC got louder.

1978 KY game

I was in attendance with my dad, it was crazy. During the first half of the game vs Tn I called him and told him what channel to put it on and we talked about how that was as close as we could remember to that game in 1978.
Good analogy/post.
Nothing beats the PMAC when LSU is relevant.

LSU beat Kentucky at home in '74 and '72. Not quite decades.

Feels like the loudest PMAC game in a long while. I’ve not been in person for awhile, so can only speak on TV sound if anyone can comment on another in recent memory

LSU need to bring back the Deaf Dome banner they used to have when the old gold ones were in use.

Like these, I can’t find a picture of the Deaf Dome Banner though. I think it used to hang in the southwest corner of the PMAC.
